The Constant Gardener is an adaptation of John le Carré's crime novel of the same name. Ralph Fiennes plays the dreamy and gentle Justin, whose routine is turned upside down overnight.

2. The English Patient, 1996

In the final days of World War II, three people find themselves in an abandoned monastery: an unnamed English patient who has lost his memory; his nurse, Hana, who is grieving the loss of her loved one; and a Canadian named Caravaggio who has been disfigured by torture.

Gradually, the patient begins to regain his memory and tells Hana and Caravaggio his story.

Early in his career, Ralph Fiennes often appeared in war films and historical melodramas. The English Patient is a mixture of these two genres. Fiennes plays both the patient, who is dying from his injuries, and Count Laszlo Almasy, a Hungarian historian and cartographer.

3. The Grand Budapest Hotel, 2014

The movie tells the story of the adventures of the head concierge of the Grand Budapest Hotel, Monsieur Gustave, and the bellboy Zero Moustafa. In the mid-1930s, a wealthy hotel guest, Madame D, dies under mysterious circumstances.

The woman's son accuses Gustave of murder and arranges for his arrest. But with the help of Moustafa, the man escapes from prison and sets out to find Madame D's will.

The actor got the role of the charming and charismatic Gustave in this daring adventure story based on the stories of Stefan Zweig.

4. Wuthering Heights, 1992

The action takes place somewhere on the West Yorkshire moors in the 19th century. Mr. Earnshaw, the father of two teenagers, Hindley and Catherine, brings home a hungry tramp, Heathcliff. He decides to take the boy into his care and asks the children to think of him as a brother.

Catherine and Heathcliff grow up and fall in love. However, the difference in social status and her brother's envy prevent them from being together. In the end, the woman becomes the wife of a wealthy neighbor. But Heathcliff is willing to do anything to be with her.

In the film adaptation of Emily Bronte's famous novel, Fiennes played Heathcliff – a rude and bitter man obsessed with his passions. It was his first leading role.
