The show's fans are in awe of the upcoming installment.

Summary

  • Season 2 of House of the Dragon is on its way.
  • The second installment will be packed with exciting events following the tragedy of the Season 1 finale.
  • Fans believe Season 2 will be a major hit.

It's been almost a month since the actors' strike ended and many shows have resumed production. In addition, popular projects such as Young Sheldon, Ghosts, Chicago Fire and NCIS have already been scheduled for midseason premieres in the first quarter of 2024. And as much as viewers are excited about the return of these shows, there's another series that fans are anticipating the most.

House of the Dragon debuted in 2022 and quickly became HBO's flagship series. A prequel to the network's hit show Game of Thrones, it explores the events that took place in the Seven Kingdoms two hundred years before GoT. Needless to say, HOTD was an instant hit. Naturally, fans have been looking forward to the next installment of the show, which is set to premiere in the summer of 2024. Recently, a teaser trailer was released, and it has audiences over the moon.

House of the Dragon Season 2

It appears that the second installment of HBO's most popular fantasy series will revolve around the impending war between the House of Targaryen and the House of Hightower following the tragic events of the Season 1 finale. Specifically, Emma D'Arcy's Rhaenyra Targaryen will seek revenge on Olivia Cooke's Alicent Hightower after her son was killed as a result of a dispute between the two characters' offspring.

Fans Have High Hopes for the Upcoming Season

With so much anticipation for the second season of HOTD, it's no surprise that viewers were blown away by the trailer.

'This legit looks like a 200m budget film. I truly believe season 2 will really put this show on the map and turn heads around the world. Season 1 was excellent but you can tell some still questioned the series. I think this season will have the same quality as peak [Game of] Thrones,' one Redditor wrote.

Remarkably, some people think that Season 2 of House of Dragons may well surpass the original show and the first installment of the prequel in popularity.

'I have a feeling that this is going to go down as one of the biggest series of all time, perhaps even surpassing Game of Thrones. They have the completed story, they have the budget, they even have a very strong viewership from Season 1 and most importantly, they have writers who have shown that they care about the source material. They just have to continue what they have done so far and that'll be enough,' another Reddit user chimed in.

The exact release date for Season 2 of HOTD hasn't been announced yet, but it's expected to premiere in the summer of 2024.
