It's time to turn to something fresh.

Anything can happen on Christmas Eve. Two kids left at home become Santa's helpers, and a person who hates holidays might change their mind.

If you're tired of rewatching Home Alone and Love Actually, we've rounded up new Christmas movies and shows for you.

1. Christmas Flow, 2021

Marcus is a famous rapper in France whose career was going well. Producers chose to give him a bad boy image with rather dirty lyrics. However, Marcus has been accused of misogyny. Now the producers want him to release a sweet family song for Christmas.

On Christmas Eve, Marcus goes to a shopping centre. There he meets a girl called Lila. She has feminist views and believes that the hype around the holidays is only a marketing strategy.

She is also angry that the idea of romantic love is so clearly imposed on Christmas. Her meeting with Marcus will change both of their lives.

2. Last Christmas, 2019

Kate works in a Christmas gift shop and after work goes to auditions – she has dreamed of singing since childhood. Kate lives wherever she can, because her irresponsible attitude has caused her to fall out with all her friends.

Her family is also in turmoil: her father disappears at work just to avoid seeing her mother, and her older sister seems to be offended by the whole world.

But one day, just before Christmas, a man enters Kate's life, turning it upside down and reminding her that change has to come from within, and that one good deed can save more than one person.

3. Dash & Lily, 2020

Lily is a very romantic girl. She lives in New York and hopes that a miracle will happen on Christmas Eve. So she leaves a diary with clues in her favourite bookstore to put the person who finds it in a festive mood.

The diary is found by Dash, a cynical guy who can't stand Christmas. And a correspondence begins between them: not only do they share thoughts and revelations, but they also challenge each other.

This is a sweet series for those who lack romance in their lives. And who, like the main character Lily, believe that Christmas is the time to meet someone special.

4. The Christmas Chronicles, 2018

From the creators of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and Home Alone, a film about the importance of believing in miracles and the fact that Santa Claus is real.

Kate is looking forward to Christmas and receiving presents from Santa Claus. She even records a video for him about how she has been good this year. But the holiday is cancelled: Mum is called into work and Kate is left with her older brother Teddy, who is unhappy about having to babysit his sister.

Kate suggests that Teddy watch Santa leave presents under the tree. As a result, the brother and sister not only meet Santa Claus, but also become his helpers for the night.

5. Let It Snow, 2019

A collection of stories from Netflix about teenagers living in a small town. That morning, each of the characters had their own plans, which were disrupted by a sudden blizzard.

As usual, a miracle will happen to each of them on Christmas Eve: someone will win the race, someone will throw a dream party, someone will believe in themselves and someone will decide to confess their feelings.

It is a simple, light movie with a predictable ending, yet very kind and festive – just in time for Christmas.
