The Polin era is coming! And it promises to be romantic.

All fans of Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton, aka Polin, are in for a treat this season, according to Nicola Coughlan. The actress who plays Penelope, the main character in Bridgerton's upcoming chapter, has been single-handedly carrying the hype surrounding the show and giving fans crumbs to survive until the premiere.

Of course, Coughlan didn't disappoint during Netflix's Tudum event, which took place in Brazil over the weekend. Speaking to ET about her experience on set, the actress said that filming the steamy scenes with her co-star Luke Newton was terrifying. And apparently, the upcoming season will be full of such scenes!

'Luke and I read the books at the beginning of Season 1, and it was funny to us. We were like, "Imagine if we have to kiss and do this." And then Season 3 came on and we were like, "Oh god," and then it's like, it's my friend. I have to kiss my friend,' the actress shared.

And the stars' confusion is understandable. While the leading actors of Bridgerton's first two seasons met on set and played each other's love interests from day one, Luke and Nicola started on the show by playing childhood friends. Naturally, this gives their friends-to-lovers story a more plausible nature, but it also makes a certain amount of awkwardness inevitable.

'And you can't pretend to kiss someone, you have to really kiss them. It's a spicy one. It's a lot of the stuff from the books that the fans expect has made it into the show,' Nicola added, alluding to the scenes that made many of Julia Quinn's readers blush.

The sexually charged moments in Romancing Mister Bridgerton, such as the carriage ride scene and the engagement party, seem very real, immersing readers in the intimacy of the moment and leaving them all excited and hot. Although adapting these scenes for the screen proved challenging for the actors, Coughlan noted that they were 'very romantic, beautifully written.' What a treat for all Polin fans!

When asked to describe the Polin season in one word, the actress came up with an answer in a heartbeat.

'Romantic? Because I keep saying — Season 1 was about passion. Season 2 was about longing. Season 3 is romance. It's so romantic.'

We're here for it, Bridgerton!
