An unlikely source just spilled Pandora’s next secret: Ubisoft’s new From the Ashes DLC for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora quietly confirms Quaritch’s fate in Avatar 3, hinting at where the film saga heads next.

Well, here is a twist I did not expect: a new piece of Avatar canon just slipped in through a video game DLC. Ubisoft dropped a fresh expansion for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora the same day Avatar: Fire and Ash hit theaters, and it sneaks in a little update on a certain blue-tinted nemesis.

The spoiler bit: Quaritch speaks

At the very end of Frontiers of Pandora - From the Ashes, there is a post-credits audio stinger. Over a radio, Colonel Miles Quaritch talks to the RDA's Tyler Bukowski and gives a simple directive: it is time to regroup and reassess. That is it. No cutscene. Just a voice and a plan.

If you are thinking, wait, how does that line up with the movie, here is where Fire and Ash leaves things: Quaritch and Jake Sully go hand-to-hand in the finale. Jake spares him. Then Quaritch takes a leap off a rock into the flux and bails, dodging what looked like an inevitable capture or worse from the Sully clan. The film stops short of telling you where he lands. The game, which is considered canon, nudges that door open: he is alive, he has comms, and he is not done.

What the DLC actually adds

  • The expansion is called From the Ashes and launched the same day as Avatar: Fire and Ash, on December 20, 2025.
  • It brings a new storyline to Frontiers of Pandora with additional missions and boss fights, including clashes with the RDA and the Ash Clan.
  • After the credits, a radio exchange plays between Quaritch and the RDA's Tyler Bukowski, capped by Quaritch saying: "it is time to regroup and reassess."
  • A clip of that audio cameo has been circulating on X from user @XOLEKYZ on December 20, 2025.

Why this is interesting

Because the game is tied into the films, this tiny radio tag basically functions like a mini post-credits scene for Fire and Ash. It confirms Quaritch is regrouping, which lines up with his escape in the movie, and it tees up his next move without the film having to show it. The timing is also curious: James Cameron reportedly filmed the movie's ending in August, but it is not clear when the team locked this DLC stinger. Coordinated or just convenient, it is a neat bit of cross-media connective tissue.

Where Cameron says things go from here

"This can be the last one. There is only one unanswered question in the story. We may find that the release of Avatar 3 proves how diminished the cinematic experience is these days, or we may find it proves the case that it is as strong as it ever was, but only for certain types of films. It is a coin toss right now. We will not know until the middle of January."

That is from a recent THR interview. Translation: the future of the franchise hinges on how Fire and Ash plays with audiences and at the box office, and Cameron designed the ending so he can land the plane if he has to.

Bottom line: the film leaves Quaritch in limbo, the game taps him on the shoulder and says not yet. If Fire and Ash connects, do not be surprised when that 'regroup and reassess' turns into an actual plan on screen.
