New Bill Skarsgård & Anthony Hopkins Movie Is a Perfect Mix of Comedy and Thriller

Anthony Hopkins tortures Bill Skarsgård while he's stuck in his car for 95 minutes.
Locked is the third remake of the Argentinean thriller 4x4. The movie is based on a true story that happened in 2007. A young man was trapped in a car he was trying to steal.
The cinematic potential of the story was immediately recognized. A few tweaks to the script – and now a failed theft attempt becomes a claustrophobic thriller.
What Is Locked About?
Eddie (Bill Skarsgård) has once again forgotten to pick up his daughter from school. Child support debts have been piling up for several years, and there is no hope for a better future in sight. Poverty and lawlessness are all around.
Fed up with his misery, Eddie decides to commit a petty crime – stealing a luxury SUV parked on a nearby street. But as soon as he gets into the car, it turns into a real prison on wheels.
The owner of the luxury car, Dr. William (Anthony Hopkins), has turned the vehicle into a bulletproof trap with soundproof and heavily tinted windows.
Locked Is a Mix of Claustrophobic Thriller and Black Comedy
Unlike the original movie, Locked does not shy away from black comedy. If in 4x4 the car owner mocked the trapped thief by simply turning on the air conditioner, in Locked the creators approach torture in a more inventive way.
They use electric shockers sewn into the seats and even a yodeling polka blaring from the car's speakers. You can't change the music or turn it down.
The most shocking thing in the movie is not even the crazy vigilante, but the fact that a place associated with comfort can turn out to be a prison.
The Movie Is Worth Seeing Just for the Duo of Bill Skarsgård and Anthony Hopkins
Despite the inventiveness of the torture scenes, the movie's concept quickly loses its charm. But where the dramaturgy fails, the acting duo makes up for it.
Bill Skarsgård once again proves that he has a wide range as an actor. For almost the entire movie, his character is alone in the frame, only occasionally having phone conversations with William. Hopkins recalls his distant past and once again embodies the image of a sick sociopath on screen.
If you wanted to see a bloody ride with stars like Bill Skarsgård and Anthony Hopkins, then Locked is definitely for you – there is no deep thought or social subtext, just an inventive torture of a man stuck in someone else's car.
