Po returns to your queue: Kung Fu Panda 2 and Kung Fu Panda 3 are set to land on Netflix in December 2025.

Netflix is planning ahead in a big way. Two of the best entries in Jack Black's kung fu animal saga are headed to the streamer, but you will need a calendar and some patience.

When to expect them

'Kung Fu Panda 2' and 'Kung Fu Panda 3' are set to land on Netflix on December 1, 2025. That date comes via What’s on Netflix, which says the streamer has the pair lined up for the holidays next year. It is a long runway, but hey, at least the plan is clear.

Why these two matter

These are not the throwaway sequels. They are widely seen as the series at its peak, both critically and commercially, and they flesh out Po's story in ways that actually pay off.

'Kung Fu Panda 2' (2011)

Directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson, the sequel finds Po fighting alongside the Furious Five to protect the Valley of Peace while facing a new threat: Lord Shen, a peacock with a serious arsenal and an even heavier past, voiced by Gary Oldman. As Po goes toe-to-toe with Shen, he starts uncovering pieces of his own history that hit harder than any cannon.

Voice cast highlights include Jack Black as Po and Angelina Jolie as Master Tigress, with Michelle Yeoh turning up as the Soothsayer and Seth Rogen back as Master Mantis. On the numbers side: the film sits at 82% on Rotten Tomatoes from 185 reviews. At the box office, it pulled in over $665 million worldwide, including $165.2 million domestic, per Box Office Mojo.

'Kung Fu Panda 3' (2016)

Also directed by Nelson, the third film shifts gears in a smart way: Po reunites with his biological father and has to train a whole village of pandas to prepare for a supernatural baddie named Kai, voiced by J. K. Simmons. It is a family reunion, a crash course in panda-style kung fu, and a showdown with a spirit-powered villain.

The voice cast brings back Jack Black and Angelina Jolie, and adds Bryan Cranston as Li Shan (Po's dad) and James Hong as Mr. Ping. Critics were into it: 87% on Rotten Tomatoes from 179 reviews. The movie earned about $521 million globally, with $143.5 million from domestic theaters.

The small wrinkle

Netflix is adding 2 and 3, not the original (at least based on this report). That is a little odd but very on-brand for streaming rights musical chairs. Still, getting the middle and later chapters on one platform is a nice win, especially if you want the emotional backbone of Po's story without hunting across five services.

Bottom line: mark December 1, 2025 if you have been waiting to revisit the series high points, or introduce them to someone who thinks pandas cannot punch ghosts. They can. And they do.
