The con is back: Ocean’s 8, the sleek 2018 Ocean’s 11 spin-off led by Sandra Bullock and featuring Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Paulson, and Mindy Kaling, is headed to Netflix soon from director Gary Ross and co-writer Olivia Milch.

If you skipped Ocean's 8 in theaters or just want a rewatch with zero effort, Netflix is about to do you a solid. The 2018 spin-off lands on the service November 1, 2025, with a stacked cast and a neat bit of franchise connective tissue baked in.

When and where

Ocean's 8 starts streaming on Netflix on November 1, 2025. It drops alongside a very studio-friendly batch that includes Crazy Rich Asians, Doctor Sleep, Ready Player One, The Nun II, Tenet, Dr. Dolittle, Dr. Dolittle 2, Paddington 2, Wonka, and more. Busy month for comfort rewatches and big swings.

What it is

Ocean's 8 is the all-female heist spin-off led by Sandra Bullock as Debbie Ocean, sister to Danny Ocean. Gary Ross directed and co-wrote the script with Olivia Milch. The film had its world premiere at Alice Tully Hall in New York City on June 5, 2018, and hit theaters nationwide on June 8, 2018.

The crew

How it performed

The movie was a global box office success and drew mostly positive reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes, it sits at 69% from 361 critiques. That puts it third-best in the franchise: ahead of the 1960 Ocean's Eleven (47%) and Ocean's Twelve (55%), and just behind the 2001 Ocean's Eleven (83%) and Ocean's Thirteen (70%). Not a bad neighborhood to live in.

The setup (and the franchise breadcrumbs)

The plot is straightforward: Debbie assembles a team of specialists to pull off an elaborate heist. The opener has her visiting the grave of her brother, Danny Ocean — played by George Clooney in the Soderbergh-era films, and by Frank Sinatra in the 1960 original — but the movie keeps nudging you to wonder if Danny is actually gone. And with Ocean's 14 now announced, the creatives have basically tipped their hand about Danny's fate. Separate from that, Warner Bros. also has a prequel film in development, so the Ocean's universe is not exactly slowing down.

Bottom line: if you're catching up before the next phase of this franchise rolls out, Netflix just made your homework easy.
