Netflix Just Dropped the Devil May Cry Season 2 Premiere Date
Dante returns for season two—reuniting the family and raising hell in Netflix’s acclaimed video game adaptation.
Netflix finally planted a flag for Devil May Cry Season 2, and the date is closer than you might expect. Even better: Dante is bringing family.
Season 2 lands in May
The streamer announced via its Geeked account on X that new episodes hit on May 12, 2026, paired with a fresh look at Dante.
"This is what they call a heart-warming family reunion. Dante returns in Devil May Cry Season 2, premiering May 12 on Netflix."
A quick refresher on how we got here
Season 1 dropped in April last year and turned Capcom and Hideki Kamiya's demon-slaying video game franchise into a violent, stylish animated thriller for adults. The adaptation comes from creator Adi Shankar and animation house Studio Mir (The Legend of Korra, The Boondocks, X-Men '97). Critics loved it: the show currently sits at 96% with critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences were more mixed, clocking in at 66% on the Popcornmeter, but interest in a second season never wavered, especially from fans hoping for an even tighter fit with the games.
The story kicks off when some very bad actors start meddling with a portal between the human and demon realms. In the crossfire is Dante, an orphaned demon hunter for hire who has no idea the fate of both worlds is basically hanging off his shoulders.
- Cast: Johnny Yong Bosch voices Dante, with Scout Taylor-Compton, Hoon Lee (Banshee, Warrior), Chris Coppola (Beowulf), and the late Kevin Conroy in his final role.
The big swing for Season 2
The next chapter brings in Vergil, Dante's estranged twin brother, as the war between worlds escalates. That addition alone tells you how much closer the show plans to hew to the games' mythology this time around.
Shankar knows some viewers thought Season 1 held Dante back a bit to build him up. He is very clear about the new approach:
"Season 2 is a vvvvveryyyyy different show."
"Yes, Dante levels up. His skills improve and you'll see him embrace more of the iconic badassery fans of the game expect. That said, I'm still telling a story, and great characters don't just win — they grow."
Translation: Dante is about to cut loose, but the character work stays intact. Mark May 12 on your calendar and prepare accordingly.
