Netflix Is Remaking Elizabeth Gillies’ Breakout — And the Most Underrated Character Finally Steals the Spotlight
Netflix is heading back to Hollywood Arts with a Victorious spinoff that puts Daniella Monet’s Trina Vega center stage; the 26-episode series is already in production.
Netflix is heading back to Hollywood Arts, but not the way you might expect. The next Victorious spinoff is called 'Hollywood Arts', it centers on Daniella Monet as Trina Vega, and yes, it already has a big order: 26 episodes. It is reportedly in production now and set to hit Netflix in 2026, with a second-window run planned on Nickelodeon and Paramount+ after that, potentially at the same time.
So, what is 'Hollywood Arts' exactly?
Trina Vega is going back to her old high school... as a teacher. Netflix says the new series follows Trina returning to her chaotic alma mater in a position of authority, which seems like the perfect setup for a character who spent the original show thriving in total chaos but never got the center spotlight. Daniella Monet is not just starring; she is also an executive producer.
Who is making it (and who is not)
Couple of notable creative notes here. This is the second Victorious spinoff after 'Sam & Cat' (a deep cut for Nickelodeon diehards), and this time around, original creator Dan Schneider is not involved. Deadline first reported the project back in February. In his place, longtime Victorious and Sam & Cat writer Jake Farrow is running the show. He is the showrunner, a writer, and an executive producer, with Samantha Martin also executive producing. The pilot is set to be directed and executive-produced by Jonathan Judge, who you probably know from 'The Really Loud House'.
The cast so far
Netflix is keeping story specifics under wraps, but the series pairs Monet with a new class of students and faculty, plus potential legacy cameos if everything lines up. Here is who is on board right now, and who might pop in:
- Daniella Monet returns as Trina Vega and serves as executive producer.
- New series regulars: Alyssa Miles ('Hanging out with Alyssa and Xavier'), Emmy Liu-Wang ('Raven's Home'), Peyton Jackson ('Woman in the Yard'), Erika Swayze ('School Spirits'), and Martin Kamm ('Web of Spiderman').
- Guest star: Yvette Nicole Brown will appear as Principal Helen Dubois.
- Behind the scenes: Jake Farrow (showrunner/writer/EP), Samantha Martin (EP), Jonathan Judge (pilot director/EP).
Will the originals show up?
Netflix has not said anything official about returns. The original Victorious lineup included Victoria Justice (Tori Vega), Ariana Grande (Cat Valentine), Elizabeth 'Liz' Gillies (Jade West), Leon Thomas III (Andre Harris), Avan Jogia (Beck Oliver), and Matt Bennett (Robbie Shapiro), alongside Monet as Trina. Gillies, at least, sounds open to it. She told People she would revisit Jade if the story earns it:
"I'll always toss on that wig, man. I'm always down. If the story makes sense, if it feels true to her and her future and her trajectory, and it's funny and smart, I'm there. I don't think Daniella would ever be a part of anything that wasn't done right."
She also backed Monet as the right person to carry the torch. And for what it is worth, it would make a lot of sense for Victoria Justice to drop by at some point, given the whole Trina-and-Tori sister dynamic. Nothing confirmed yet, but the door is clearly open.
Where this could go
Plot specifics are still under wraps, but the setup is obvious and promising: Trina trying to wrangle a new generation of drama kids while making peace with her own Hollywood Arts history. Expect new students, new teachers, and at least a few familiar faces if schedules and stories line up.
Final bits
One more note: Daniella Monet told Netflix she is grateful to return, calling Victorious a life-changing experience and saying she feels lucky to help build something that could capture that energy again. Between the 26-episode order, the 2026 premiere on Netflix, and the later airings on Nickelodeon and Paramount+, this is not a one-and-done experiment. It is a full-on return trip to the school we all remember — just with Trina in charge this time.
