Netflix Drops First Look and Premiere Date for K-Drama Starring Blackpink’s Jisoo

Netflix just dropped a teaser for a new K-drama called Boyfriend on Demand, and yes, the title is exactly what it sounds like. It stars BLACKPINK's Jisoo and aims straight at the part of your brain that wants romance without all the real-life mess.

So what is this thing?

Jisoo plays Seo Mi-rae, a fried, overworked webtoon producer who opts out of actual dating and signs up for a subscription-based virtual boyfriend app (also called Boyfriend on Demand). Think curated fantasy dates in pristine digital settings: yachts, beaches, even a K-pop concert. That escape hatch gets complicated when real-world feelings bump into her work life via Park Kyeong-nam, a colleague and professional rival played by Seo In-guk.

That line kicks off the teaser, which leans fully into the fantasy dating vibe before hinting at the messier, human stuff underneath.

Beyond Jisoo and Seo In-guk, the show sprinkles in some familiar faces for cameo appearances: Seo Kang-jun, Lee Soo-hyuk, Kim Young-dae, and Lee Jae-wook. The main cast also includes Gong Min Jeung and Kim Ah Young.

Kim Jung Sik directs a 10-episode run. The production shot in the Philippines, which you do not see every day for a K-drama. Also interesting: this was originally headed to MBC before Netflix swooped in and picked up the rights.
