NCIS: Sydney Includes Other NCIS Shows' Easter Eggs, Good Luck Finding Them All
The upcoming show will be full of Easter eggs.
Without a doubt, the NCIS franchise is one of the most popular ones in the current television landscape, and for good reason - the rewarding crime procedural has been around for more than a decade at this point, and the weekly crime cases and character development have all been nothing short of stunning throughout that time.
Plus, every single show in the NCIS family feels original and compelling, while sharing the same vibe and approach to storytelling. And it looks like the new chapter in the franchise's history will be just as compelling to watch as the original show and its spin-offs.
A trip to the land down under
When CBS announced its plans to take NCIS international, fans were eager to see the project as soon as possible and wondered which country the producers would choose as the next location. To everyone's surprise, Australia was chosen as the new setting for NCIS, and the show is actually already being filmed and awaiting its premiere in just over a month.
NCIS: Sidney will follow NCIS Special Agent Michelle Mackey and her Australian counterpart Sergeant Jim Dempsey, who have joined forces to form a special unit to combat terrorist activities that threaten Australia and the USA.
The show will be full of Easter eggs
In one of his recent interviews, showrunner Morgan O'Neill revealed that the upcoming spin-off will take full advantage of its association with the NCIS franchise, not only using the original show's winning formula, but also leaving behind a plethora of Easter eggs.
'Look, there are a couple of little Easter eggs there. I won’t spoil them, but they’re definitely there. One of the things that I think audiences love about this show is the fact that it feels like a universe, not individual shows,' O’Neill said.
And while the nature of these Easter eggs is yet to be revealed, fans can be sure that some of the beloved characters from other shows may actually take a trip to Australia to help the new heroes of NCIS solve some tough cases, which will certainly help Sydney get more people watching.
NCIS: Sydney Season 1 will premiere on November 14, 2023 on CBS.
