Warner Bros. has set a release date and unveiled a stacked ensemble for Nancy Meyers’ long-awaited return, with Owen Wilson and Jude Law aboard. The studio picked up the untitled film last October after Netflix scrapped it over budget disputes.

Nancy Meyers is officially back in the game. Warner Bros. just pulled the curtain on the cast (yep, it is stacked) and circled a release date for her long-in-the-works, still-untitled comeback movie. This is the same project Netflix scrapped in 2023 over budget fights before Warner Bros. scooped it up in October. Long story short: the rom-com queen is returning to theaters, and it is a big swing.

Who is in it (deals are being finalized)

The studio says these five are in final negotiations to join the ensemble. Earlier conversations also included Scarlett Johansson and Michael Fassbender, though they are not part of this latest update.

The date (mark your calendar, and maybe pencil in a reminder)

Warner Bros. has locked December 25, 2027 for the theatrical release. As of today, there is nothing else parked on Christmas Day itself, but the movie will land in the same month as 'Avengers: Secret Wars'. Yes, 2027 feels far away; you will have time to repaint the kitchen twice.

What it is (and what it is not)

Meyers is writing and directing, and this will be her first feature since 2015's 'The Intern' with Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro. Plot details are under wraps, and reports that it is a semi-autobiographical story about a filmmaker and a producer have been shot down. Translation: do not expect a thinly veiled look at her own career.

How we got here

This is the same project that made waves when Netflix pulled the plug in 2023 after budget disagreements. Warner Bros. picked it up in October and has been steering it toward a big theatrical rollout. Production is tentatively aiming to start in early 2026 in Los Angeles, which tracks with that 2027 release window.

Who is making it happen

Along with writing and directing, Meyers is producing with Ilona Herzberg. Diana Pokorny is on board as executive producer. If you need a refresher on Meyers' track record: 'Private Benjamin', 'The Parent Trap', 'Father of the Bride', 'What Women Want', 'Something's Gotta Give' — the resume is the resume.

Bottom line: a true Meyers ensemble is forming, the date is set, and the studio is clearly treating this like an event. Now we just wait for a title, a plot, and, let’s be honest, a kitchen we are all going to want to copy.
