Morbid Curiosity it the Smartest Reason to Watch AHS Season 12

Although FX's American Horror Story remains one of the most influential shows of the 21st century, having single-handedly revitalised the horror genre on television, recent seasons of this anthology series created by Ryan Murphy have fallen short of expectations. Fans were frustrated by the increasingly convoluted and uninspiring plots of the last few seasons. It would appear that Murphy took the criticism to heart, though, and made significant changes for the forthcoming 12th season.

For starters, instead of relying on an original concept, Murphy chose to base the new season on a book. This deviation from the typical AHS formula has raised plenty of eyebrows. While some fans appreciate this novel approach, others fear ditching the tried-and-true formula may result in a complete train wreck of a season.

Adding to their apprehension, Murphy's choice to cast Kim Kardashian and Cara Delevingne as lead characters has been met with scepticism. Both celebrities are mostly known for their controversial personal lives rather than their acting prowess. Considering these changes, it's not surprising that many long-standing AHS fans are bracing themselves for the worst in the new season.

'I like Emma Roberts but can't stand Cara as an actor and there's no telling how Kim K's performance will be but obviously, I do not have high hopes. I'll probably watch an episode for the laughs and quit, as I've done since Apocalypse,' a fan said.

While the previous AHS season, Apocalypse, was widely panned as the series' low point, fans have serious reservations about whether the new instalment, titled Delicate, will be able to redeem the show. They're steeling themselves for the possibility of an even more abysmal season.

'I'm morbidly curious about how they're going to make this season worse than the last one,' another fan noted.

We can just hope that Murphey and his team can defy expectations. It's high time AHS returned to form and reclaimed its former glory.

American Horror Story Season 12 Episode 1 will premiere on FX on 20 September.
