Riding a Best Actor Oscar nod for Sinners, Michael B. Jordan’s Netflix movie Swapped just locked its release date and added more stars after his dual turn as Elijah Smoke Moore and Elias Stack Moore.

Netflix just planted a flag for its next big animated swing: Michael B. Jordan is leading (with his voice) a body-swap adventure called 'Swapped,' and now it has a date. Circle May 1, 2026. I know, that feels far away. The concept is fun, the team is stacked, and the creature world they built sounds... delightfully strange.

What 'Swapped' actually is

This is a buddy comedy set in a valley where the animals aren’t strictly animals. The ecosystem sits somewhere between plant and creature, which is both intriguing and slightly trippy. Jordan voices the tiniest woodland critter in the valley; Juno Temple is a majestic bird. They’re sworn enemies until, of course, they wake up in each other’s bodies and have to survive the most chaotic trek of their lives together. Classic premise, fresh spin.

Netflix also dropped some teaser art to set the mood, so the marketing train has left the station. And yes, Jordan is everywhere right now — he’s up for Best Actor this weekend for 'Sinners' — so the timing lines up nicely.

'Swapped is a body-swap movie unlike anything audiences have seen before. In this world, the creatures of the valley exist on a spectrum between plant and animal, creating a wild ecosystem. At the center of the film is the smallest creature in the valley, voiced by Michael B. Jordan, who suddenly finds himself swapped into a completely different body and thrust into a massive, unpredictable world that turns his entire life upside down and forces him to experience life from a completely different perspective.'

Who is making it (and who you will hear)

  • Release date: May 1, 2026 on Netflix
  • Format: Animated feature
  • Director: Nathan Greno
  • Writers: John Whittington, Christian Magalhaes, Robert Snow
  • Producers: John Lasseter, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Mary Ellen Bauder Andrews
  • Voice cast: Michael B. Jordan (the tiny woodland creature), Juno Temple (the majestic bird), Tracy Morgan, Cedric the Entertainer
  • Newly added voices: Justina Machado, Ambika Mod, Lolly Adefope

The notion that these valley creatures live somewhere between plant and animal? That’s a swing. If the movie leans into that worldbuilding while letting Jordan and Temple riff as accidental partners, this could be a very fun watch come spring 2026.
