Mia Goth and Andrew Scott Join Star-Studded Cast for Acclaimed Director’s Next Film
Mia Goth (Frankenstein) and Andrew Scott (Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery) will headline Fonda, a psychological thriller from Anatomy of a Fall filmmaker Justine Triet.
Mia Goth and Andrew Scott are teaming up for a psychological thriller called Fonda, and the filmmaker behind it is a very big deal: Justine Triet, fresh off winning an Oscar for Anatomy of a Fall. That alone makes this one worth circling on the calendar.
What Fonda is
Fonda is a psychological thriller set in what the official description calls a 'seemingly idyllic huis clos' — basically a closed-door, contained setup with a limited group of characters. Think claustrophobic by design. The story promises a head-first plunge into a character's unraveling, where grief and obsession blur the line between what is and is not a stable mind.
This is Triet's first movie entirely in English, which is notable given how she mixed languages in Anatomy of a Fall. She is writing and directing.

Timing and the early hype
Filming is expected to begin in the spring. Behind the scenes, this is a European powerhouse setup: mk2 Films and Studiocanal are producing, with Triet's longtime collaborators back in the fold.
"Fonda promises to bring audiences another major cinematic moment by delving into the depths of the human mind and resurfacing as a thriller of rare intelligence and emotional force destined to be a top awards contender and box office hit," said mk2 Films boss Fionnuala Jamison.
That is a confident sales pitch before cameras even roll, but between Triet, this cast, and the one-location pressure-cooker vibe, the ambition tracks. Studiocanal's Anna Marsh echoed the enthusiasm, praising Triet's singular style and the cast, and said they jumped on the project as soon as they read the script.
Bottom line: Triet doing a full-on English-language thriller with Goth and Scott in a tightly contained setup? That is catnip for awards voters and genre fans alike. Expect this one to be on a lot of watchlists as soon as production gets underway.
