MCU standout Iman Vellani has nothing but praise for Wonder Man, touting the newly released Disney+ series from Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest as worth the watch, with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II stepping in as Simon Williams and Ben Kingsley returning as Trevor Slattery.

Iman Vellani just dropped a love letter to Marvel Television's new Wonder Man on Letterboxd, and it is an unapologetic 4.5-star rave. If you needed a nudge to hit play, Ms. Marvel herself is basically shaking you by the shoulders.

Quick refresher: what is Wonder Man?

The show quietly arrived earlier this month. It is created by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest, stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams aka Wonder Man, and brings back Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery. Vellani, for context, plays Kamala Khan in the MCU. She debuted in 2022's Ms. Marvel miniseries before teaming with Brie Larson's Captain Marvel and Teyonah Parris's Monica Rambeau in 2023's The Marvels.

Vellani's take, in short

'If you miss when the MCU was grounded and kinda weird and small and a little sad, or you feel like something's been missing lately and you can't quite put your finger on it - congrats. You've found it. Watch Wonder Man.'

That is one line from a very exuberant post, where she keeps telling you to watch the show in about a dozen different ways. It is funny, specific, and, yes, extremely convincing.

  • If you like movies, watch Wonder Man.
  • If you like movies about movies, watch Wonder Man.
  • If you are a Midnight Cowboy person, watch Wonder Man.
  • If you have seen every Marvel ever or literally none, watch Wonder Man.
  • If you prefer heroes who are human first and super second, watch Wonder Man.
  • If mentorship buddy-comedy is your jam, watch Wonder Man.
  • If you have forgotten what sincerity looks like, watch Wonder Man.
  • If you miss Ben Kingsley's 'Uh-merica' delivery, watch Wonder Man.
  • If you want something breathable and not obsessed with pelting you with lore, watch Wonder Man.
  • If 'baller needle drops' speaks to you, watch Wonder Man.
  • If you miss the MCU being grounded, weird, small, and a little sad - or you have felt something missing lately - watch Wonder Man.
  • If you like when people who clearly care make projects for people who really care, watch Wonder Man.

She caps it off with a 'WWM!' and a cheeky disclaimer that the post was written under the pure influence of joy, with no Kevins and-or Feiges in the room. Translation: yes, she is in the MCU, but this reads like a genuine fan reaction, not corporate homework.
