Eagle-eyed MCU fans are abuzz after spotting what they believe are secret messages hidden in the latest Avengers: Doomsday trailers, sparking a wave of online theories as anticipation mounts for the Russo Brothers' blockbuster hitting theaters later this year.

If you thought Marvel's been dropping ordinary trailers for 'Avengers: Doomsday,' think again. Things are getting weird — even by MCU standards — and fans are on the case, dissecting every frame for hidden meaning. Basically, it's Marvel marketing in 'full galaxy brain' mode.

Forget Trailers, Think 'Clues'

So, here's the basic setup: Marvel has rolled out four 'teasers' for 'Avengers: Doomsday.' Each one zeroes in on a different character or two — for example, you've got:

  • Steve Rogers (yes, Chris Evans is back in uniform)
  • Thor (Chris Hemsworth still wielding the hammer)
  • A bunch of X-Men popping up
  • Shuri (Letitia Wright) as Black Panther and Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) showing his rocky face

But here comes the twist: according to the Russo Brothers (who are back in the director’s chair for this one), "What you’ve been watching for the last four weeks… are not teasers. Or trailers. They are stories. They are clues…Pay attention," they posted recently on Instagram.

So, either someone in Marvel marketing is having way too much fun or there really is something deeper going on. And naturally, fans dug in.

The Codebreakers Assemble

Here's where it gets suspiciously nerdy (and I say that with love). At the end of each teaser, there's a clock ticking down to the big release day. But eagle-eyed viewers noticed a strange jumble of letters and numbers flashed right before it, like: 1e:24ber:02020 in the Cap-centric teaser. Looks random, but this is Marvel — nothing’s really random.

Some fans, with way too much time and possibly multiple monitors dedicated to rewatching 'Endgame,' think these codes are actually Evo-psych-level timestamps from 'Avengers: Endgame.' For example:

  • The Steve Rogers clue supposedly lines up with the scene where Hulk is getting philosophical with the Ancient One. That's the whole 'millions will suffer' conversation — not exactly light viewing.
  • The X-Men teaser's code might lead you right to Rocket asking Thor if he's crying. (And weirdly, 'Deadpool & Wolverine' apparently calls back to Thor waterworks in the future?)
  • The Thor teaser's secret could refer to the scene where Loki disguises himself as Cap and claims he's headed off for search and rescue.
  • The last code, from the Shuri and Thing-focused teaser, is a toss-up — some say it's Rocket offering to take Ant-Man to space, others argue it's Hawkeye reuniting with his family. (Consensus: shaky at best.)

It's all a fan-theory free-for-all right now, but the Reddit sleuths seem pretty convinced they've cracked at least some of Marvel’s nutty code. Meanwhile, the rest of us are just trying to keep track.

The Takeaway (& The Waiting Game)

Whether these are legit clues for future plot points, or just more Marvel misdirection, nobody outside of Marvel’s NDA circle knows for sure. But it’s classic MCU marketing: just cryptic enough to keep everyone guessing, and yes — we're all still gonna show up opening night.

In case you need to put these dates in the group chat calendar, 'Avengers: Doomsday' opens December 18, 2026. Its follow-up 'Avengers: Secret Wars' rolls around a year later, December 17, 2027.

If you catch another clue, let me know — I’ll be right here, overthinking movie trailers with the rest of you.
