ARC Raiders cranks up the risk-reward with special map modifiers that shower you in loot while unleashing heavier ARC activity. From mild twists to squad-wiping gauntlets, here’s every modifier and how it reshapes the fight.

If you have been diving into ARC Raiders lately, you have probably noticed how a random map condition can flip a chill run into a full-on scramble. These special modifiers crank up the loot, but they also wake up the ARCs and mess with the map in ways that force you to adapt fast. Some are fine for solo players. Others? Bring friends.

What these modifiers actually change

Big picture: modifiers either blanket the whole map with a condition or turn one zone into a hot spot. In exchange for better rewards, you usually get fewer active Return Points, closed Raider Hatches, more aggressive ARC spawns, or a big set-piece objective. A few of them also double Trial points when Trials are live, which can make the risk worth it.

Every special map modifier right now

  • Electromagnetic Storms – The entire map gets hammered by a thunderstorm. Lightning strikes deal damage to both ARCs and careless Raiders. Loot goes up, Raider Hatches are closed, Return Points are scarce, and Trial points are doubled while Trials are active.
  • Lush Blooms – Nature goes wild. There is way more natural loot everywhere: think Mushrooms, Prickly Pears, Wicker Baskets, and similar resource spawns showing up in big numbers.
  • Night Raid – The map flips to nighttime. Loot behind locked doors gets a big bump, and keys spawn more frequently. On the downside, ARC spawns increase, Return Points drop, and Raider Hatches are shut.
  • Launch Tower Loot (Spaceport) – Extra loot is piled up at the top of the Launch Tower. ARC activity spikes in that area. To get up there, you need to slot Fuel Cells into the Generator Consoles to power the ziplines.
  • Hidden Bunker (Spaceport) – A bunker opens up if you activate four Rooftop Antennas scattered around the map. Expect heavier ARC presence near the bunker, fewer active Return Points, and no Raider Hatches. Inside, you can pull data from terminals to progress Trials, and Trial points are doubled during Trials.
  • Locked Gate (Blue Gate) – The Warehouse Complex has a Gate Room Control you can only unlock after collecting four Security Codes from these spots: Raiders Refuge, Pilgrims Peak, Reinforced Reception, and Ancient Fort. Active Return Points are reduced and Raider Hatches are off the table.
  • Uncovered Caches – Old Raider Caches start spawning all over. They are not marked on the map, but you can track them by sound (tick/beep). Catch: they are rigged to explode the longer the match goes on. High risk, high-value loot.
  • Prospecting Probes – A lot more ARC Probes show up, which makes farming Mechanical Components much easier. Breaking into a Probe triggers an alarm that can give away your position to both ARCs and other Raiders.
  • Husk Graveyard – The map fills with ARC Husks (Rocketeer Husks, Wasp Drone Husks, etc.), which can drop rare ARC parts like Bombardier Cells and Bastion Cells. Bonus: nature loot also spikes significantly during this event.
  • Matriarch – A Matriarch boss spawns somewhere on the map. Tough fight, big rewards. Unless you are overconfident or wildly talented, bring a squad.
  • Harvester – A massive Harvester structure lands and the Queen ARC guards it. Getting inside involves a Fusion Cores puzzle, and sneaking past or outmuscling the Queen is no joke. If you loot it, you can snag Blueprints, including Equalizer and Jupiter.

What is next: Snowfall in the Cold Snap update

An upcoming modifier, Snowfall, is on deck as part of the Cold Snap update. It will blanket the Rust Belt Ridge maps in snow, which should change your routes, visibility, and general approach to most encounters. No new maps are coming with this update, just a deep winter makeover across the existing ones.

There is no exact release date yet, but expect it in the back half of December, likely between the 17th and the 22nd. The window lines up with the shifted in-game schedule: the Expedition Project now has its Departure Window on December 17, with the Caravan leaving on December 22. Translation: circle that week.

Which modifier do you actually like seeing pop up? The ones that double Trial points are tempting, but I am not turning down a clean Lush Blooms run either.
