Martin Henderson’s Top Pick: Which Virgin River Season is the Best One?
It's safe to say that actors are often legally obligated to support the projects they work on.
And while these projects may not always express the actors' own ideas, it is even more precious when they do. Whether it is for the sake of promoting the series or not, the star of Virgin River said that he is definitely biased towards a particular season of the series.
Virgin River made its debut in late 2019 when its first season came out and has since spanned five seasons, with the fifth yet to be released.
The romantic drama series revolves around Melinda Monroe, more commonly called ‘Mel’, as she decides to take up the job of a midwife/nurse practitioner in the titular small town in Northern California in pursuit of a fresh start. It’s in Virgin River where Mel meets Jack Sheridan, portrayed by Martin Henderson, and the two characters become romantically involved.
As their relationship grows throughout the series, so does our understanding of Jack Sheridan. First introduced to us as a local bar owner in Virgin River, he reveals other sides to his character: one at a time. And we learn that he’s a PTSD-impaired former Marine who’s trying his best to go on with his life no matter how big of a mess it is.
In an interview with Glamour, the actor had his say on his favorite season of the series. As he finished filming only a couple episodes of Virgin River’s season 5, Martin Henderson said it was already the best one in the entire series. His reasons for calling unreleased season 5 the best may sound rather silly.
‘It’s the best season yet. I’m amazing in it,’ Henderson told Glamour.
While the actor may appear smug saying that, it is only his great sense of humor and liveliness that translates into his character’s charm and popularity with the audience.
Indeed, it’s Jack Sheridan’s personal drama that has driven the series for the past several seasons.
As for Henderson’s opinion on season 5, we’ll have to take his word for it, since even the release date hasn’t yet been announced, let alone the season released. It is reasonable to presume, however, that Virgin River season 5 will delight us with Henderson and the rest of the cast in the second half of 2023.
