Luke Thompson Reveals Benedict’s Next Chapter in Bridgerton Season 5
With Benedict’s romance at a turning point, Luke Thompson weighs in on Bridgerton Season 5—hinting at whether Benedict’s story will keep unfolding and how much more of him fans can expect.
Benedict Bridgerton might not be riding off into the sunset just yet. Luke Thompson is pretty clear: even with that big Season 4 ending, he does not think Benedict is done.
So, is Benedict back in Season 5?
Short answer from Thompson: expect to see him again. Season 4 wraps with Benedict getting engaged to Sophie Baek (played by Yerin Ha), which feels like a tidy bow. Thompson is not treating it like a goodbye.
"I doubt it. I doubt it. He's part of the family, so I'm sure he'll still be around as well as, you know, making way for the new siblings, but, yeah, of course, of course."
He also kept the door open for however the creative team wants to use him:
"We shall see."
Why Benedict could stick around
The show does not usually bench its former leads. Jonathan Bailey and Luke Newton both kept showing up after their big romance seasons, and the ensemble chemistry is part of the draw. Thompson likes that part of the job, especially when he gets to bounce off longtime scene partners. About his scenes with Johnny Bailey in Season 4 Part 2, he said:
"I actually love those scenes with Johnny [Bailey] in Part 2. I think they're really interesting scenes because there's that history. There's that sort of four season history behind it."
Closing the book on Season 4 (but not the character)
This season finally shifted the spotlight to Benedict after three years of watching his siblings find their matches. Thompson admitted the wrap left him a bit emotional and said it feels strange being on the other side of a Bridgerton romance arc. He is proud of the series and what this chapter added to his career, which tracks with the way he talks about the role.
Translation: Benedict's big romantic milestone is done, but the man is still a Bridgerton. If the pattern holds, he should be around in Season 5, even as the show makes room for the next sibling to steal the ballrooms.
