In the end, they are all going to fall in love with each other anyway.

The formula of friends who eventually fall in love has become the basis of many romantic movies. The characters ponder the possibility of friendship between different genders and are simply afraid of upsetting the established model of relationships.

1. The F Word, 2013

Twenty-year-old Wallace is on the verge of depression: his girlfriend cheated on him with a teacher, so he decided to drop out of medical school and move in with his sister.

At the urging of a friend, the young man goes to a party where he meets his friend's cousin, the charming Chantry. She is an animator with a sense of humor and interests similar to Wallace's – a kindred spirit the man so lacked.

Everything is going as well as possible until Chantry mentions her boyfriend.

2. No Strings Attached, 2011

Emma ends up in bed with an old friend, Adam. The characters once felt mutual sympathy, but 15 years have passed.

Now the woman is a doctor with a busy schedule and a disbelief in monogamy, and the guy is an aspiring screenwriter. The young people decide to become each other's lovers with no strings attached.

Emma even comes up with special rules to keep the friends from going too far. But, as we know, rules are made to be broken, and friendship, according to the law of rom-coms, goes down the drain in the name of love.

3. When Harry Met Sally, 1989

When Harry meets Sally, the young people are on their way to New York, arguing nonstop. It seemed that at such a point of confrontation, a spark would surely ignite and a dizzying romance would unfold.

But they go their separate ways, only to meet again five years later. And even then, the reunion changes little in Sally and Harry's lives: a forced flight together, another argument, memories of the previous trip.

More time will pass before they find themselves in the same bookstore, talking on the phone until late at night. A series of evenings together gives birth to a friendship that is destined to be broken by mutual attraction.

4. Love, Rosie, 2014

Rosie and Alex have been friends for as long as they can remember. Growing up side by side, they supported each other and dreamed of going to college together when the time came.

But fate has other plans: at a graduation party, Rosie has sex with the school's hottie, and a few weeks later she discovers she is pregnant.

While Rosie and her baby face the harsh realities of Dublin, Alex builds a new life in Boston in a relationship with someone else. The next 12 years are a series of attempts to keep in touch across distance and to finally understand who they are to each other.

5. My Best Friend's Wedding, 1997

Julianne and Michael have been friends for a long time. Back in their college days, they made a joke pact: if neither of them found a soul mate by the age of 28, they would get married.

After a while, the best friends forgot about the pact. The moment came when Julianne was about to reach that age, and there was a message from Michael. The woman calls back, but instead of a proposal, she hears an invitation to the wedding as a bridesmaid.

Before the call, the woman could not even imagine how long she had been in love with her best friend. Now, Julianne must stop the wedding.
