The CW's latest show is canceled.

For more than a decade, The CW was home to many hit series based on DC characters, with shows like The Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl drawing millions of viewers to their screens. However, when new management took over the network, many of the shows were canceled, though The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow still had respectable ratings.

But fans of all things DC weren't worried at all because Gotham Knights was supposed to usher in a new era for comic books on The CW.

The story about a bunch of teenagers, including the Joker's daughter and Bruce Wayne's adopted son, trying to solve Batman's murder sounded exactly like the hit series The CW was desperately looking for. Viewers fully expected Gotham Knights to continue for years to come and mature into a cult series — but instead, the network canceled the show after just one season, just like they did with The Winchesters.

Sadly, it seems that the new management didn't find the series' ratings to be substantial, which is why they decided to cancel Gotham Knight even before the Season 1 finale aired. With no other networks or streaming services stepping up to save the show, it looks like fans will be left with a pretty juicy but unresolved cliffhanger after the series' finale.

Earlier, Supernatural alum Misha Collins revealed that his character, Harvey Dent, would only become Two Face in the last episode of the show, and his words are confirmed by the episode's official synopsis. According to the description, the final episode will see Dent lose control of his life and finally turn into the iconic villain.

However, fans don't even know if Gotham Knights' creative team even shot Misha Collins in Two Face's makeup, or if his new look was supposed to be revealed in the second season.

In any case, it looks like The CW has shot itself in the foot once again, alienating a large portion of its audience just to cut costs instead of allowing Gotham Knights to develop.

The series' next episode will air on The CW on June 20, and the final episode will be released on June 27, 2023.
