It's been just over a year since Season 2 of The White Lotus premiered, but HBO's dark comedy-drama remains one of the network's most popular shows. Named after a fictional chain of resorts, the series is an anthology of stories set in some of the world's most picturesque locations, following groups of wealthy visitors and exploring the darker side of their seemingly beautiful lives.

Although The White Lotus has a great deal of thought-provoking drama at its core, the show is first and foremost a comedy. Perhaps this is why it is so popular with viewers, who are told heart-rending yet ridiculous stories in a most entertaining fashion. As a result, TWL has a legion of fans who are always looking forward to the next installment. Fortunately, it is on its way, but according to the showrunner, it will be quite different from the existing two seasons.

The White Lotus Season 3 Will Face Significant Changes

With the end of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, The White Lotus has resumed production, as have many other shows on TV, including Young Sheldon and NCIS, both of which will return this February. However, TWL won't be making a comeback in the near future, as HBO has already slated it for a 2025 release.

As sad as it is to have to wait another year, there are advantages as producers will have more time to create a more nuanced season of the beloved show.

'It's going to be a supersized White Lotus. It's going to be longer, bigger, crazier. I don't know what people will think, but I am super excited, so at least for my own barometer, that's a good thing… I'm super excited about the content of the season,' Mike White, TWL's creator, said in an interview.

What Will Remain the Same on the Show?

However, this doesn't mean that The White Lotus will be completely reimagined. The fan-favorite comedy-drama will still revolve around a bunch of troubled rich people at one of the chain's resorts – this time in Thailand. And while it's not yet confirmed, we may see some of the original cast reprise their roles in Season 3.

'It would be easy to just be a full-on anthology, but I think it's more fun to have little threads through the show. If the show goes on for a couple of seasons, it would be fun to have an all-star season,' the showrunner said earlier.

Now we just have to be patient and wait for 2025, when the third season of The White Lotus will be released.
