All Creatures Great and Small Secures Double Renewal: Seasons 7 and 8 Confirmed
All Creatures Great and Small is sticking around: PBS Masterpiece has renewed the beloved period charmer for Seasons 7 and 8, just weeks after Season 6 wrapped its six-episode run. The annual Christmas special lands in December.
Good news for anyone who likes their comfort TV with a side of calving emergencies: 'All Creatures Great and Small' is officially coming back for two more seasons on PBS Masterpiece.
Where we are in the timeline
The renewal landed just over a month after Season 6 wrapped its six-episode run. And, in the show's now-annual tradition, there is a Christmas special on the books — December 5, 2025. Yes, 2025. Mark it now so you are not frantically searching listings a year from now.
The show, the vibe, the cast
Based on James Herriot's classic books about his real-life veterinary adventures, the series has basically lived at the top of Rotten Tomatoes since it debuted in 2020. It's cozy without being mushy, funny without being smug, and unreasonably good at making rural Yorkshire look like a postcard.
- Samuel West as Siegfried Farnon
- Anna Madeley as Mrs Audrey Hall
- Nicholas Ralph as James Herriot
- Callum Woodhouse as Tristan Farnon
- Rachel Shenton as Helen Alderson
What PBS and Channel 5 are saying
"All Creatures Great and Small has found its way into the hearts of American audiences and is one of our most-watched series," PBS Masterpiece executive Susanne Simpson said. "I'm thrilled to bring more seasons of the warmth, hope, and humor that make this series so special."
Over in the UK, Channel 5 is just as pleased. Commissioning Editor Greg Barnett called it one of the network's crown jewels — the kind of warm, funny, big-hearted drama that keeps their audience coming back — and said there are plenty more stories for the Skeldale family.
Who is making Season 7
Season 7 is a Playground production. Executive producers include Colin Callender, Melissa Gallant, and Sharon Moran for Playground; writer Neil Jones; Susanne Simpson for Masterpiece; Louise Pedersen and David Swetman for All3Media International; and Sebastian Cardwell, Paul Testar, and Greg Barnett for Channel 5. Yvonne Francas is producing.
Bottom line: two more seasons, a holiday special on deck, and more Yorkshire scenery so pretty it should come with a warning label. No notes.
