Mirela Balić's character made the new season worth watching.

Summary

  • With the release of Season 7, the discourse around Elite has shifted as fans have noticed a change in the content and quality of the new season, challenging previous criticisms and reviving interest in the show.
  • Fans have found immense fulfillment in witnessing Chloe's transformation from a sex-obsessed manipulator to someone who understands the true meaning of love, and believe that Mirela Balić has the potential to carry Elite's final season on her own.

When Elite premiered on Netflix in 2018, everyone fell in love with the Spanish teen drama, as the complex characters and interesting romantic storylines made it a total blast to watch. However, seven years later, the once-hit show has lost almost all of its following, as the original characters have long since left the show and the new ones simply failed to deliver.

Fans wondered why Netflix was still renewing Elite for new seasons, as nothing of substance happened in them and the newly introduced protagonists pale in comparison to the original ones. However, it looks like that discourse has changed with the recently released Season 7, and here's one.

An iconic character

Fans went into the new chapter of Elite with a lot of reservations, expecting just another botched season, but were actually surprised by how endearing and complex it turned out to be.

And while the writers should obviously be commended for improving the quality of the storylines, it is Mirela Balić who should be praised for getting the show back on track, as her character, Chloe, has quickly become the most iconic female in the show's history.

When Chloe was first introduced, people didn't think much of this confused and mean girl, but during her character arc, she really blossomed into an incredibly layered and endearing person that fans would want to follow for years to come.

Seeing her start out as a sex-obsessed manipulative person and then follow her all the way to realizing what love really means when she started dating Raul has been an incredibly fulfilling process for fans who haven't hesitated to see Mirela as the rising star who can carry the upcoming final season of Elite completely on her own, without much help from the underwhelming new characters introduced in Season 7.

However, it will be much more fulfilling to see new and exciting characters help Chlore make the upcoming season a hit, as the writers and casting directors should try their best to find new stars and create fitting storylines for them, just like they did for Mirela Balić and her character.

Let's hope the writers don't ruin Chloe in Season 8.
