The actors almost stopped talking to each other after Pattinson's Twilight success left Jamie Dornan in the dust.

Though not many people are aware, Robert Pattinson and Jamie Dornan were actually quite close before their careers took off, sharing a flat in the early 2000s. Both actors were part of a tight-knit circle of budding British actors and often spent time together, along with other members of the same group, such as Andrew Garfield, Eddie Redmayne, and Charlie Cox. They're all famous now, but over a decade ago, most were virtually unknown, with Pattinson being the notable exception.

Describing his friendship with the Batman actor, Dornan revealed that he felt extremely jealous of Pattinson's success at one point. While Dornan and his friends struggled to find work, Rob was already making waves, receiving awards, and gaining the admiration of millions of fans.

'I've known Rob forever. He's a really good friend. I love him. I think he's one of the most investing, exciting actors around. I probably, at one point, was quite jealous early on. We were all friends back in London and Rob was going places and we weren't. I think he's the nicest guy in the world,' Dornan said.

This feeling of envy became particularly pronounced after Pattinson landed a role in the iconic, albeit cheesy, Twilight movie series. Starring in such a massive franchise quickly positioned Pattinson as one of the leading up-and-coming actors worldwide, and Dornan found it challenging to reconcile with the fact that his best friend had completely eclipsed him in their acting careers.

It wasn't until Dornan himself joined the 50 Shades of Grey cast that his sense of being overshadowed by Pattinson's success began to subside. Both actors became figureheads for two of the most iconic, yet somewhat campy, franchises Hollywood has produced.

Of course, both actors have since moved on from their earlier roles and are now starring in projects they are truly passionate about. Thankfully, Pattinson and Dornan have remained close friends, and fans eagerly are dying to see them collaborate on screen. If Redmayne, Cox, and Garfield were to join the two in a project, the box office would surely go through the roof.
