KPop Demon Hunters Star May Hong Teams Up With Arden Cho For KPop Horror Thriller Perfect Girl
Fresh off Netflix’s record-breaking animated fantasy KPop Demon Hunters, where she voices Rumi, Arden Cho is diving back into KPop-fueled terror with Perfect Girl — and KPop Demon Hunters star May Hong is joining her.
Arden Cho is not slowing down. Fresh off a record-breaking run with Netflix's animated fantasy KPop Demon Hunters, where she voices Rumi, she is already on set for a new K-pop horror movie called Perfect Girl. The quick sales pitch: think "Scream meets Black Swan." Cameras are rolling now in Thailand, and because the universe has a sense of humor, Cho's KPop Demon Hunters co-star May Hong (she voiced Mira) just joined her in the cast.
What Perfect Girl is actually about
The setup is deliciously stressful: a brand-new K-pop super group is one week away from being finalized. Only four spots are up for grabs. Then a last-minute ringer shows up, and things get weird fast. One by one, girls are attacked. The question is not just who the killer is, but who survives the final cut. The movie is also weaving the music straight into the genre fun with six original tracks.
Who is making it
Hong Won-ki, the music-video veteran behind Goedam and founder of Korean production house Zanybros, is directing. The script comes from Lynn Q. Yu and landed on the Black List, which is a solid sign there is a hooky idea here. Cho is pulling double duty as star and producer, joined by Badlands, Thunder Road, and Desert Bloom. Production kicked off in Thailand last week.
The cast, which is stacked with idols and up-and-coming screamers

- John Kim (Cruel Intentions)
- Jeon Somi, international K-pop star making her acting debut
- Peter Lee Jae Yoon (12:12 The Day)

- Ally, Thai singer and actress (The Believers)

The vibe they are promising
Cho is leaning hard into the whodunit angle and the idol-world pressure cooker, which feels like the right lane for this premise.
"The whole mystery will be, who is our villain. That is kind of the fun of it. You get to see these beautiful, talented, and complex characters and we are not going to know who the villain is or who we should think it is. The script is a fabulous adventure and we hope the audience will be on the edge of their seats wondering."
Producer Scott Strauss added a little mission statement for the team-up of K-pop and carnage:
"Director Hong has put together a dream international cast to bring to life his uniquely fun vision for a horror movie set against the backdrop of K-Pop."
Bottom line
A slasher built around idol training stakes, from a director who knows the music world inside and out, with an international cast and six original songs baked in. Bold. Filming is underway in Thailand now, so we should start hearing more soon. Into it? Tell me below.
