Kim Cattrall Won't Appear in And Just Like That… Season 3 After All
Sorry fans, you are not going to see Samantha again.
The news that Kim Cattrall would not be returning for the horribly titled Sex and the City sequel, And Just Like That…, did not come as a shock to longtime fans of the franchise. Cattrall's beef with her co-stars has not been resolved ever since the SATC movies came out, making her appearance in HBO's new show highly unlikely.
But with only three main cast members reprising their roles in Season 1 of the sequel series, some of that SATC magic was definitely lost without Kim's Samantha Jones on board.
However, fans began to see the light early last month when it was revealed that Kim would be returning for the second season of the sequel, albeit in the form of a brief video message cameo. This led many to believe that Kim was planning her big comeback in Season 3, but it looks like that simply won't be the case.
As it turns out, Kim filmed her cameo all by herself, not even talking to Sarah Jessica Parker or the series' showrunner Michael Patrick King, just relying on her own camera skills and her favorite stylist Patricia Field. With this in mind, it appears that Kim's conflict with the SATC cast and creative team is still very much in place and not going anywhere anytime soon.
Moreover, an anonymous source recently revealed that Kim's cameo doesn't mean anything in terms of a long-term relationship with And Just Like That…, detailing that she turned down a huge amount of money for a possible return to the show.
'She will have gotten a s--tload of money. It just shows the power of Kim… They still need her on the show,' the source said, 'But even though this may get fans thinking she'll be back for the next season, she'll never do that. She was treated poorly. I'm glad she gets to be the hero. I'm sure it took a lot of massaging to make the cameo happen.'
So fans shouldn't expect to see Samantha Jones in person again, even if HBO does renew the show for a third season.
Season 2 of And Just Like That… will hit the screens on June 22, 2023.
