Never say never, they say.

HBO's Sex and the City had captivated fans for six seasons, making millions of people fall in love with the four compelling, strong female characters. At times, however, it was even more interesting to follow the four leads' relationships in real life.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall, who played Carrie Bradshaw and Samantha Jones, were making headlines with their off-screen bickering throughout the show's golden age in the 2000s. Reportedly, Cattrall was unhappy about the disparity in their salaries, claiming that it was unfair that Parker was earning much more than the other leads.

After the second SATS movie was released, Cattrall called it quits and said she would never be part of the franchise again. Naturally, fans were not surprised when the star refused to reprise her role on the spin-off show, And Just Like That…, which aired on HBO in 2021.

The new series starring the other three original cast members went on to become a big hit with audiences and were subsequently renewed for a second season. And just recently, the news broke out that Kim Cattrall would make a cameo appearance in the upcoming season, which is set to premiere on June 22 this year.

According to Variety, Cattrall will pay a visit to And Just Like That… as Samantha Jones once again, talking to Sarah Jessica Parker's character over the phone. This announcement has taken the public by surprise, with one part of the fandom supporting the actress' decision to make a comeback, and the other lambasting Cattrall for not committing to her own words.

Many people are looking forward to seeing Cattrall on screen again, arguing that Samantha was the most charismatic character in the original SATC series. Some old-time fans even say that the spin-off 'sucked' without her, so Cattrall is sure to add some luster to the new installment of And Just Like That…

On the other hand, there are those who disapprove of the actress' decision, as she had said a number of times that she would never reprise her role as Samantha. People see Cattrall's comeback as a sellout, claiming that she was probably lured into the series by a large paycheck, which made her forget her earlier claims.

This latter stance sounds rather dubious, considering that the actress will only provide her voice for one of the scenes and will not appear as a full-blown character in any of the episodes. Nevertheless, Kim Cattrall's brief return to the franchise is already generating a ton of publicity for the new season, which is exactly what And Just Like That… really needs.
