Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair — Where to Stream, Release Date, and Full Runtime Revealed
Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair storms theaters this December, finally presenting Quentin Tarantino’s complete four-hour revenge odyssey as a single, blood-soaked epic on the big screen.
Well, this took long enough. The unified cut of Quentin Tarantino's revenge epic is finally going wide. 'Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair' is getting a proper theatrical rollout this December, the way Tarantino always wanted you to see it: all in one sitting, on the big screen.
Quick refresher: Tarantino originally built 'Kill Bill' as a single marathon movie, then split it into two at the studio's suggestion. The combined version has popped up here and there at festivals and special screenings, but a nationwide run? That's new.
What to know
- Opens Friday, December 5, 2025 in the U.S., exclusively in theaters.
- Runtime: 281 minutes (about 4 hours and 41 minutes), with a 15-minute intermission between the Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 sections. Yes, there is a bathroom/snack break baked in.
- Formats: 35mm and 70mm prints will be in circulation, according to Lionsgate.
- First nationwide presentation of the unified cut; until now, the full version has mostly been a festivals-and-one-off-screenings situation.
- Includes a brand-new, never-before-seen 7-minute animated sequence that folds into the story and digs deeper into the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad.
At nearly 4 hours and 45 minutes, this is quite possibly the longest runtime any new movie has had for a wide theatrical release in recent years. Bring snacks. And a plan.
About that new animation
Details are under wraps, but the new sequence is designed to slot into the narrative the way O-Ren Ishii's backstory did in 'Vol. 1.' Given that Production I.G animated that unforgettable chapter, it's fair to expect a similar vibe. The goal here is to deepen DVAS lore without breaking the flow.
So... a 'Kill Bill Vol. 3' after this?
Do not hold your breath. Tarantino has been clear he intends to cap his directing career with his next movie, which makes this likely the last fresh 'Kill Bill' material we get. That said, he once floated a tantalizing follow-up concept, which he described like this:
"I think it's just revisiting the characters 20 years later. Just imagining the Bride and her daughter B.B. having 20 years of peace, and then that peace is shattered and then the Bride and B.B. are on the run. The idea of casting Uma [Thurman] and casting her daughter, Maya, and the thing would be fucking exciting. I mean, Elle Driver (Daryl Hannah) is still out there, Sophie Fatale (Julie Dreyfus) got her arms cut off, she's still out there. They all got Bill's money. Gogo (Chiaki Kuriyama) had a twin sister, her twin sister could show up."
That last detail about Gogo's twin? Very on-brand. Probably the closest we'll get to a third chapter.
How the original volumes stack up
If you're wondering how the previous cuts were received: 'Vol. 1' clocks in at 111 minutes and sits at 8.2 on IMDb, with an 85% Tomatometer and 81% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes. 'Vol. 2' runs 137 minutes, scores an 8.0 on IMDb, and holds an 84% Tomatometer with an 89% Audience Score.
Bottom line: if you've never seen 'Kill Bill' or you've only experienced it split in two, this is the way to do it. 'Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair' hits theaters December 5, 2025. You in for the full ride?
