Kevin Costner & Christine Baumgartner Divorce Drama Gets Messier
Get ready for the next high-profile mess after the Depp-Heard divorce.
Without a doubt, going through a divorce is tough for anyone. Not only does one lose their significant other, but their fortune may also shrink considerably due to the divorce settlement. In this respect, celebrities tend to suffer the most — and, to add insult to injury, their divorces often serve as a public spectacle, drawing the attention of millions of fans and random onlookers.
Most recently, the ongoing divorce of Yellowstone star Kevin Costner and designer Christine Baumgartner has become the talk of the town. It looks like the couple has had some rough patches during their almost 20-year marriage, but the situation exacerbated this spring when Baumgartner filed for divorce. Three months in, things seem to be getting uglier.
The whole process was likely instigated by Costner's accusations of infidelity against his wife. Reportedly, the couple had a long-time tenant on their property whom the actor suspected of hitting on Christine. Furthermore, the star now claims this wasn't the first time his wife cheated on him, but whether or not this is true, Baumgartner decided not to try and prove her innocence but call it quits between her and Costner.
An unnamed source close to the family told In Touch that Kevin and Christine are contending for his $400-million riches in court, and while this is a usual practice, things are a bit more complicated for the couple as they signed a prenup. Baumgartner claims that it was composed before the birth of their three children and doesn't take into account their needs. She demands that Costner pay $248,000 a month for child support, and he believes that a monthly payment of $51,940 would be 'reasonable.'
In addition, the actor is trying to get his wife to vacate the house, which is an obligation included in the prenuptial agreement, but Christine seems reluctant to do so.
Notably, this is not the first time Costner and Baumgartner have separated. Only this time, their divorce is more real than ever.
'Kevin and Christine have split several times before. She has often given him ultimatums and threatened to end their relationship if he didn't comply,' a source shared with In Touch.
Fans of the actor continue to follow the divorce proceedings, and hope that Costner and Baumgartner will try to keep their relationship decent, at least for the three kids they share.
Meanwhile, everyone is excited to see Costner's last appearance as John Dutton in the final episodes of Yellowstone Season 5, set for release in November 2023, as well as his feature film Horizon, the first installment of an epic four-part Western project.
