Katee Sackhoff & Karl Urban Split: The Real Story Behind Their Breakup

In the mid-2010s, fans of Katee Sackhoff and Karl Urban were over the moon as they learned that the two actors were together. Known for their iconic roles in the space opera Battlestar Galactica (where Sackhoff played Kara Thrace) and Xena, The Lord of the Rings, and Star Trek (Urban's most prominent projects before he became the star of The Boys), these actors had all the chances of becoming Hollywood's ultimate power couple.

But things didn't work out for them, and fans are still wondering what went wrong between Katee and Karl.

Prior to meeting Urban, Sackhoff dated producer Scott Niemeyer for seven years, and the two were even engaged. Urban was married for 10 years to makeup artist Natalie Wihongi, with whom he shares two children, Hunter and Indiana. They divorced in 2014 but remained on friendly terms.

In the same year, Katee and Karl met on a plane while on their way to a sci-fi convention in Montreal and apparently hit it off right away.

Two years into their relationship, Sackhoff was talking to the Los Angeles Times and made a comment about an action figure of Urban, which the interviewer spotted on her bookshelf:

'When we first started dating, I went to Paris with two of my girlfriends and one of their husbands. [Karl] couldn't go, so I took one of his action figures and have images of it, like in front of the Eiffel Tower with me,' the star explained, proving just how sweet her and Urban's relationship had been.

Sadly, the romance ended four years after it started, in 2018, and Urban confirmed the split on his social media a year later. While the reason behind the breakup remains a mystery, it looks like the actors parted on friendly terms and are still good friends.

For Katee Sackhoff, the end of the relationship with Karl opened up new romantic prospects. Shortly after the breakup, she met writer and producer Robin Gadsby on the set of Netflix's Another Life. The couple married and welcomed their daughter in 2021.

Karl Urban is currently enjoying a single life and focusing on his career. A few weeks ago, the star published a photo of himself in the company of equally famous sci-fi actors.

Evidently, both actors are happy with their lives post-breakup, and fans wish them all the best in their personal and professional journeys.
