Kate Hudson’s Netflix sports comedy Running Point was renewed a week after its breakout debut — and now season 2 release date news has finally arrived.

Kate Hudson scored a legit crowd-pleaser with her Netflix sports comedy Running Point, and Season 2 is officially on deck. The streamer renewed it one week after launch thanks to big viewership and warm reviews, and now there is a fresh hint about when we will actually get it.

So, when is Season 2 dropping?

While out promoting his Prime Video series Fallout, Justin Theroux slipped a little update about Running Point. He plays team owner Cam Gordon, and he says the new season already has a provisional landing spot.

"I had a [secret] to share," Theroux teased, adding that the cast "were just given a tentative release date."

Season 2 is "in the pipeline," he said, and viewers will "be hearing about [the details] shortly."

Read that as: the date announcement is close.

How we got here

Running Point premiered in 2025 and took off fast, leading to a speedy renewal on March 6, 2025. Netflix marked the pick-up with a video of Hudson thanking everyone who streamed it. As she put it:

"I'm just beyond thrilled because you're really the reason why we're able to come back and do another season."

Five months after the renewal, cameras rolled on Season 2. Filming wrapped November 5, 2025.

Where Season 2 picks up

The new episodes continue right from Season 1's final stinger. Cam returned from drug rehab and walked into the office ready to reclaim the Los Angeles Waves presidency from Hudson's Isla. He named her his successor at the top of the series before stepping down, and now he wants the chair back. That move sets Cam up for a much bigger presence this year, which tracks with Theroux being bumped to series regular. Uche Agada, who plays rookie phenom Dyson Gibbs, is a series regular too.

Who is making it, and who is in it

The series comes from Mindy Kaling, Elaine Ko, Ike Barinholtz, and David Stassen, with Stassen running the show. Executive producers include Kaling, Barinholtz, Stassen, Hudson, Linda Rambis, and Howard Klein.

  • Cast for Season 2: Kate Hudson, Justin Theroux, Uche Agada, Brenda Song, Chet Hanks, Scott MacArthur, Drew Tarver, Fabrizio Guido, Robert Townsend, Ken Marino, Tommy Dewey, Richa Moorjani, Jake Picking, Blake Anderson, Duby Maduegbunam, Aliyah Turner

Short version: the show is locked, loaded, and edging toward an announcement. With filming wrapped and Theroux signaling a date is in hand, expect Netflix to plant a flag soon.
