The author is very protective of his books.

There's no denying that George R. R. Martin is one of the most famous authors working today, on par with the likes of Stephen King and J. K. Rowling. The fantasy author established his reputation back in the 1990s, earning a cult following for his inventive sci-fi novels and the A Song of Ice and Fire series. It wasn't until 2011, however, that Martin truly attained mainstream celebrity status after HBO adapted Game of Thrones into a live-action series and took his global fame to a whole new level.

Following Game of Thrones' remarkable popularity, Martin became a major star, appearing on shows and podcasts, working on big Hollywood projects, and earning millions from his books and future deals. But while fans continue to adore Game of Thrones and Martin himself, recent years saw them accuse their favorite author of procrastination.

Long-Awaited Book

Despite the HBO show concluding some time ago, Martin's fans are still waiting for Game of Thrones to wrap up in the books, and considering the author hasn't released a chapter since 2011's A Dance with Dragons, it's understandable why people are starting to lose patience with Martin.

He still has two full books to write to complete the series, but he is so tied up with other projects that he keeps postponing the release of the next book, The Winds of Winter. That's why some fans have decided to take matters into their own hands.

Resourceful Fan

Recently, a fan used AI to predict how the stories of Jon Snow and Daenerys will conclude in the books by asking ChatGPT to write the next book in the series using all the previous books in the saga as inspiration.

The end result proved to be both hilarious and confusing, but that didn't stop Martin from taking legal action against the fan, forcing him to remove the AI-generated finale from the Internet.

It looks like Martin is very protective of his books and won't let even a harmless joke like this stand in his way. Be warned; you don't want to try and finish the series yourself, so all we can do is wait until the author finds the time to write the next Game of Thrones chapter.
