Just In: Apple TV+ Renews The Morning Show for Season 5

Breaking news from UBA: Apple TV+ has renewed The Morning Show for a fifth season, keeping Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon at the helm.
Apple is sticking with The Morning Show for another round, and Jennifer Aniston is doubling down at the streamer with a whole other series. So yes, she is still clocking in at UBA, but she is also executive producing a new Apple TV+ dramedy based on Jennette McCurdy's memoir 'I'm Glad My Mom Died.' Busy is the brand.
'The Morning Show' lands season 5 at Apple TV+
Apple renewed The Morning Show for season 5, and they did it with their usual timing: right before the next season arrives. They gave season 4 the greenlight just ahead of season 3 back in the day, and now they are handing out the season 5 pickup just before season 4 drops. If you are sensing a pattern, so is Apple.
As for season 4 itself, the story picks up in spring 2024, nearly two years after the events of season 3. The in-world UBA-NBN merger is done, which tilts the newsroom into a new phase. Apple sums it up like this:
"With the UBA-NBN merger complete, the newsroom must grapple with newfound responsibility, hidden motives and the elusive nature of truth in a polarized America."
- Season 4 lineup: Alongside Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, the season features Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Greta Lee, Nicole Beharie, and Jon Hamm.
- New faces this year: Aaron Pierre, William Jackson Harper, Boyd Holbrook, plus Oscar winners Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Irons.
Behind the scenes, Charlotte Stoudt returns as showrunner and executive producer, joined by director Mimi Leder, Aniston, Witherspoon, Michael Ellenberg, Lindsey Springer, Lauren Neustadter, Kristin Hahn, Zander Lehmann, and Micah Schraft. The series is produced by Media Res.
Apple TV+'s head of programming Matt Cherniss called the show a standout from the jump and said it has connected with audiences worldwide. Executive producer Michael Ellenberg says the new season gives the cast and crew even more room to shine, and he is already looking beyond it, thanking fans who tune in weekly.
Aniston's other Apple play: 'I'm Glad My Mom Died'
On top of that, Aniston is executive producing a new Apple TV+ series inspired by Jennette McCurdy's bestselling memoir 'I'm Glad My Mom Died.' It is a 10-episode dramedy from child actor-turned-writer McCurdy and Ari Katcher (Ramy, Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show), who are writing, executive producing, and serving as co-showrunners.
Executive producers include Aniston, McCurdy, Katcher, Sharon Horgan's Merman, LuckyChap, Jerrod Carmichael, and Erica Kay. So while Aniston is staying put at UBA for The Morning Show season 5, she is also building another Apple series on the side. Not exactly low-key, but it is Apple, and they like to keep their stars busy.
