With season 3 looming, Jujutsu Kaisen storms Japanese theaters on November 7, 2025 with Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution — a Shibuya Incident compilation that also premieres the first two episodes of the Culling Games arc.

Jujutsu Kaisen is doing something a little different before season 3 hits. There is a new theatrical release called 'Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution' that is both a big-screen cut of the Shibuya Incident arc and a sneak peek at the start of the Culling Game. Yes, it is a compilation movie. Also yes, it includes the first two episodes of season 3 in theaters. If you are caught up, that is a solid hook.

Release plan

  • Japan: November 7, 2025, with IMAX screenings
  • UK and Ireland: November 14, 2025, released by Crunchyroll and Sony Entertainment
  • North America: December 5, 2025, released by Toho Animation and GKIDS
  • EMEA, Latin America, and APAC: dates coming later (not announced yet)

Streaming is TBD. Crunchyroll has not announced when (or if) 'Execution' will land on the service. For now, this is a theatrical play.

So what exactly is 'Execution'?

It is a feature-length compilation of the Shibuya Incident arc, stitched and polished for theaters. On top of that, the movie includes the first two episodes of the Culling Game arc, which is what season 3 adapts. So you are basically getting a recap-plus-preview package on the big screen.

Viewing order is simple: watch it after finishing season 2 and before starting season 3. Skipping season 2 is not smart unless you want to miss the Gojo's Past arc entirely, which you do not.

For franchise bookkeeping: this is the third Jujutsu Kaisen movie after 'Jujutsu Kaisen 0' and the 'Hidden Inventory' compilation movie.

Marketing push (and what they showed)

A new IMAX visual dropped on October 22, 2025, spotlighting Yuji Itadori and leaning hard on the 'Shibuya special edit meets Culling Game kickoff' angle. Toho Animation also put out a trailer ahead of the premiere that runs through Shibuya highlights, setting the tone for the remixed cut before pivoting into the new arc.

Quick take

As far as event releases go, this is an efficient way to get Shibuya back in front of a crowd and kick the door open on season 3. The IMAX pitch makes sense for an arc that lives and dies on scale and chaos. It is not designed for newcomers, but if you have been riding with the show, this feels like a theatrical victory lap that doubles as a teaser drop.

If you want to catch up (or rewatch), the Jujutsu Kaisen anime is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
