Join the 1%: The Charmed Easter Egg in Virgin River S5 Trailer You Missed
Could Virgin River give a nod to The WB's supernatural show?
The official trailer for Virgin River Season 5 Part 1 has landed on Netflix's YouTube channel, and aside from the obvious storylines of Mel's pregnancy, Brie going to court, and a huge wildfire affecting the entire Virgin River community, some fans have spotted a surprising reference to the original Charmed series.
'Timestamp 0:14 this is the house for Charmed,' a fan wrote in the comments section of the trailer.
In the scene in question, Mel comes through the beautiful door to have a conversation with Doc about prioritizing her new family over her job, and that door does indeed look like the one in Halliwell Manor. This is a resemblance that not many viewers would have noticed. See for yourself.
But what does this reference mean? Is there going to be some kind of magic involved in Netflix's romantic show? Or does it have something to do with Joey Barnes, Mel's sister? Actually, it might just be a coincidence.
The door shown in the trailer is part of the interior of Doc's Family Practice Clinic house. And it reminds so much of the original Charmed house because both mansions were built in the last decade of the 19th century in the Eastlake Victorian style, known for its beautiful stained glass windows and doors.
In reality, these two homes are in different cities and even countries. Doc's home, nicknamed Breezehurst, is located in the historic Queen's Park neighborhood of New Westminster, Canada. And Halliwell Manor's real name is Innes House, and it is part of the Angelino Heights neighborhood in Echo Park in Los Angeles, California.
Both mansions are undeniably magnificent pieces of 19th-century architecture, and it's not surprising that some fans saw their similarity as an Easter Egg. But upon closer inspection, the stained glass doors differ in both shape and color.
Sadly, it looks like the Virgin River characters will have to do without magic in Season 5. God knows they could use some of it with that horrifying wildfire teased in the trailer.
