Seventeen-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena will wrestle his final match in December 2025, closing out a retirement tour with five more appearances before he leaves the ring for good.

John Cena really is winding it down. The 17-time WWE world champ is on his farewell tour, and now the end point is locked in: his final WWE match is set for December in D.C. Here is everything that matters if you want to be there or just need the timeline straight.

The finish line is set

Cena will have his last WWE match at Saturday Night's Main Event on Saturday, December 13, 2025, inside Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. Monumental Sports put out the details, and Cena himself stamped it on social: he posted 'One Last Dance. Final Final 12/13/25' on September 30.

The send-off, in WWE's own words

'John's contributions to WWE are immeasurable. There are no words that can truly relay how much he means to this business... We look forward to honoring his legacy and delivering an unforgettable send-off for both John and the WWE Universe.'

That was WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H setting the tone. Locally, Events DC boss Angie M. Gates called D.C. the right stage to celebrate Cena and welcome fans from around the world. And from the building side, Monumental Sports and Entertainment venue chief Jordan Silberman pointed out that Capital One Arena has hosted a lot of big WWE shows, so giving Cena his final bow there fits.

Tickets and timing

The farewell match headlines Saturday Night's Main Event. Tickets go on sale Friday, October 17, at 10 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. PT. There is an exclusive presale on Wednesday, October 15, at the same time, through Ticketmaster.

Where Cena is at right now

He is in the middle of his retirement tour with five more appearances still to go before he steps away from in-ring action.

The recent chapter (and why fans wanted a redo)

Cena's last outing was at WWE WrestlePalooza on September 20, 2025 — the first premium live event under WWE's new deal with ESPN. He faced Brock Lesnar, and it did not go Cena's way. Lesnar controlled the match and hit multiple F5s, a vibe that echoed their SummerSlam 2014 beatdown where Cena ate a conveyor belt of German suplexes.

Fans immediately started calling for a rematch. Instead, Triple H announced Cena will face AJ Styles next at WWE Crown Jewel in Perth, Australia. Yes, Crown Jewel... in Perth. The branding is on a world tour too.
