Fans often note that there's a large discrepancy between the fictional worlds of TV shows and reality. Even if characters appear to be friends on-screen, the actors that portray them may not be on equally amicable terms in real life.

Just think of Sex and the City's Carrie and Samantha, portrayed by Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall: while the two women were besties on screen, Parker and Cattrall have been feuding for years, both during and after SATC. However, actors may also be good friends backstage, and the Heartstopper leads prove that perfectly.

Heartstopper became a sensation when it premiered on Netflix in 2022. With the focus on the budding romance between teenage Charlie and Nick, the show depicts the hardship of high schoolers' lives, their struggle to find acceptance, and the power of friendship.

And while the two characters go from friends to lovers on Heartstopper, the actors who play them — Joe Locke and Kit Connor, respectively — also happen to be good mates in real life.

The two actors have given lots of interviews together since the show premiered and also appeared in promotional videos for Heartstopper's second season, which came out in early August. In the interviews, Locke and Connor seemed very friendly with each other, but that wasn't enough to suggest they're also besties in real life.

Recently, however, the actors were spotted in the streets of London with their castmate Tobie Donovan, who plays Isaac. The photos make it clear that the Heartstopper cast members enjoy each other's company and have a warm relationship, which is just too wholesome to be fake.

The three actors were photographed hanging out together — as friends normally do — just walking around Covent Garden and chatting (you can check out the photos on Twitter). Clad in jeans from head to toe, Joe and Kit even posed for a picture. The two stars appear completely unpretentious and charming, which is why so many people now see them as real-life Charlie and Nick.

It's also worth noting that the timing couldn't have been better for the actors' foray into the public, as Heartstopper fans are all crazed up about the recently released Season 2. In case you haven't seen it yet, all eight episodes and a special are available to stream on Netflix.
