Joe Keery Has Only One Word to Describe Stranger Things Ending
Steve Harrington feels 'bittersweet' about conclusion.
Joe Keery, otherwise known as Steve Harrington from Stranger Things, only needs one word to summarize the conclusion of one of the most beloved TV franchises ever to exist. Accordingly, when speaking recently at a panel for the German Comic Con, Keery was blunt about his time on Stranger Things.
The 31-year-old actor is already having a noteworthy career even in the absence of ST. Keery recently starred alongside Ryan Reynolds in Free Guy and has several other projects on the horizon. Nonetheless, he can only describe the ending of Stranger Things as 'bittersweet' as Netflix prepares to conclude the beloved franchise.
The streaming giant has yet to confirm a release date yet it's anticipated that season five will arrive sometime in 2024. With that in mind, the actors have already been wrapping up production and preparing to say goodbye to the show. Consequently, it hasn't been easy preparing for the departure.
Keery acknowledged that the Netflix series has been a hit sensation since it arrived in 2016, capturing the imagination of audiences with a blend of 1980s nostalgia and supernatural thrills. As a result, it has been difficult saying goodbye to the rest of the cast and crew.
'It's going to be bittersweet, for sure,' Keery said during the Q&A session with international fans. 'I think [the rest of the cast] is excited to start working again, but it'll be like the first time of a lot of last things, as well, so it will be bittersweet.'
Fans may be preparing to say goodbye to the main series, yet there are other anticipated releases based on Stranger Things that will appear on Netflix in the not-so-distant future. In fact, Keery noted that he's also looking forward to the upcoming animated spinoff of Stranger Things.
While details remain limited regarding the new series, according to creators Matt and Ross Duffer, it will be based on the style and presentation of 1980s Saturday morning cartoons. For now, fans will have to wait until 2024 for more Stranger Things.
