It seems the actress was not too fond of the series finale either.

BBC America's show about a seemingly normal woman Eve being stalked by a crazed killer, Villanelle, became an unlikely hit in 2018. People praised the writing and lead performances by Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer. The show ran for four acclaimed seasons, and fans naturally expected a happy ending for Eve and Villanelle.

Instead, the series delivered one of the most unjust and poorly written finales in television history.

During the fourth season, fans began to hope that Eve and Villanelle would end up as a romantic couple after the credits rolled. However, the writers had a very different idea: just as Eve and Villanelle started to enjoy each other's company, Comer's character became ruthlessly murderous, depriving Eve and the fans of a happily ever after.

People were extremely upset with this development, accusing the writers of queerbaiting and poor writing and wishing the finale could somehow be reversed. Although Villanelle's death remains canon to this day, it appears that Comer wasn't happy about her character's demise, either.

‘I did anticipate a mixed reaction, because I think that, you know, we have such an incredible fan base. You’ve all lived with this show for such a long period of time, that it almost feels impossible. It was tricky to dictate what would feel right, or what was right for the characters. I don’t like thinking about her floating around the river Thames. I think she crawled out. Or maybe she’s been like reborn,’ Comer said.

Indeed, it seems Comer finds her character's death a hard pill to swallow and wants to believe she has somehow survived or can be brought back in some other way. Although most fans despise the sudden resurrection of deceased characters, it appears no one would mind if Villanelle were given another chance at happiness with Eve.

Perhaps BBC America should heed Comer and the fans' wishes and produce another season with Villanelle alive and well. Fans would even be content with a brief episode showing Villanelle arriving at Eve's house, as people just can't think of her as dead and gone for good.
