The tension leading up to their hookup was exciting at first, but fans are tired of the back-and-forth will-they-won’t-they situation it resulted in.

Grey’s Anatomy fans have seen all kinds of character pairings.

Some pairings turned into power coupled like Meredith and Derek, others were treacherous and toxic like Teddy and Owen or Jackson and April, and then some just didn’t work at all, and that’s how fans are feeling towards one of the latest new pairings.

Jo and Link shared one of the strongest friendships on the show, and have a long history of being close and platonic through many seasons. Following Alex leaving Jo to be with his ex-wife Izzie, fans thought that Jo would be alone for a while, but that was not the case.

Its Jo's heartfelt speech about Link not deserving to suffer that prompted the pair to hook up for the first time, and it could have been the start of a heartfelt friends-to-lovers trope, but right from the start fans felt that something was off, and things weren’t going in the direction they should have.

It’s not just the fact that they lack chemistry or the fact that many fans feel that the writers should have kept them as friends to show the power of platonic relationships, it’s the fact that their romance was way too drawn out.

Wherever the writers are going with Jo and Link, fans just aren’t feeling it.

Their friendship was a Grey's Anatomy staple, and fans loved the way they wholeheartedly supported each other through the good times and the bad, but their hookup created distance and had them walking around on eggshells around each other and avoiding the elephant in the room.

What makes the situation worse is the fact that there have been plenty of moments to spur a conversation between the two, Link’s jealousy over Jo’s fling with Todd for example, could have brought on some conversation and conclusion about what they wanted from each other, but Grey’s continued to stall.

Taking to Reddit fans have expressed that the writers spent so long focusing on the fact that they were best friends, and changing that in fans’ minds is going to take time, whilst others have said that it’s almost impossible to stay interested or even root for them when all they seem to do is dance in circles around each other. It’s feeling more and more like they started something they never should have in the first place.

Jo and Link certainly took too long to get to where they are now, and in that time the initial spark and excitement died out, and fans have been left feeling disinterested in their situation-ship that has begun to feel too forced.

Hopefully, it’s not too late to go back and salvage the friendship that they had, because it certainly seems to be more popular among fans than their romantic relationship.
