Jenna Ortega is pushing for a mother-daughter alliance in season 3 of the Netflix series, with Wednesday and Morticia burying the hatchet to become the Addams Family’s gothic dream team.

Wednesday season 2 just finished its two-part roll-out on Netflix — the first chunk hit in August, the rest landed in September — and the streamer had already locked in season 3 before any of it went live. Now Jenna Ortega is talking about where she wants to take the show next, and yes, she is aiming straight for a mother-daughter goth alliance.

So what is Wednesday up to, exactly?

The series comes from Millar Gough Ink, Tim Burton Productions, Toluca Pictures, and MGM Television. It is a darkly funny, supernatural coming-of-age show built around Wednesday Addams navigating Nevermore Academy. Think psychic abilities coming online, a town terrorized by a monster, and an old mystery tied to her parents from 25 years back — all while she figures out who to trust and who to ignore. Light fare, obviously.

Season 2 sends Wednesday back through Nevermore’s Gothic halls with new enemies, returning headaches, and more delightful chaos. She is juggling family, friends, and familiar rivals, deploying that deadpan wit as she gets dragged into another chilly supernatural case.

The core cast

  • Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams
  • Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams
  • Luis Guzman as Gomez Addams
  • Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams
  • Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester
  • Joanna Lumley as Grandmama

What Jenna Ortega wants in season 3

Speaking to GamesRadar+, Ortega said she wants Wednesday to finally stop butting heads with Morticia and actually join forces. She also thinks the show should keep pushing Wednesday into her darker impulses — without losing the humor — and, in true Addams fashion, ramp up the hilariously homicidal sibling rivalry with Pugsley.

"I would like them to stop arguing and team up... I think we should lean into that. It is really exciting and refreshing to see women displayed that way. I think it is important to see Wednesday deal with the darker side of herself a little bit, too — but also never taking things too seriously. And I would like to see more death attempts between her and Pugsley. She does not try to kill him enough!"

Catherine Zeta-Jones is on the same page about digging into the Wednesday/Morticia relationship next season, and she would like Grandmama stirred into that dynamic too. If they actually go there, expect the family drama to be as fun as the mystery-of-the-week stuff.

Where this could go

A full-on Wednesday and Morticia team-up seems like the smart play: two generations of Addams snarking and sleuthing in tandem is basically the show’s sweet spot. Add in Grandmama, and that is a three-pronged chaos engine. And yes, more creatively murderous sibling shenanigans would be on-brand. Netflix already greenlit season 3, so now it is just a matter of whether the writers lean into the goth-girl unity pitch Ortega is making.
