Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie Just Supercharged Their Next Action Thriller With Seven New Cast Members
The Guy Ritchie–Jason Statham reunion just leveled up: Statham-led Viva La Madness has added seven heavy hitters, including Vinnie Jones, priming the action thriller for the high-octane, character-rich chaos fans crave.
Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham are back at it, and the movie just leveled up. Their new action thriller, 'Viva La Madness', quietly started rolling cameras earlier this year, and now the cast has ballooned with seven major names. If you like your Ritchie joints loud, stylish, and stuffed with personalities, this is exactly that.
Who just joined Statham in 'Viva La Madness'
- Jason Isaacs
- Vinnie Jones - his fifth time working with Ritchie. He also shared the screen with Statham in 'Mean Machine' back in the day.
- Babs Olusanmokun - fresh off 'Dune', reuniting with Ritchie after 'The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare'.
- Camila Mendes
- Ben Foster
- Jonny Lee Miller - recently worked with the director on 'The Covenant'.
- Raul Alejandro - the Grammy-winning artist joins the mayhem.
The setup
Black Bear officially confirmed the ensemble and is handling the film domestically. Amazon MGM Studios is taking care of the international rollout. The project is based on JJ Connolly's novel, with Connolly co-writing the script alongside Ritchie.
Plot details are locked up tighter than a safe, but the team is positioning 'Viva La Madness' as a stand-alone, original film. Translation: do not expect it to pick up threads from any previous movie, even if the title is ringing bells.
Behind the scenes
This one has a lot of familiar fingerprints. It was developed by Statham's Punch Palace Productions and Thomas Benski for Lumina Studios. Producing alongside them: Ritchie and Ivan Atkinson for Toff Guy Films, plus John Friedberg for Black Bear. It also continues Black Bear's ongoing relationship with both Ritchie and Statham.
What to expect and when
No trailer or release date yet, but with production already underway, those should not be far off. Between Statham in the lead and Ritchie calling the shots, expect slick criminals, sharp elbows, and characters who talk almost as fast as they fight. And with that cast, the character stew is going to be rich.
