Jason Momoa is wrecking the competition as The Wrecking Crew smashes to No. 1 on Prime Video’s global charts just days after release.

Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista just dropped a big, loud crowd-pleaser on Prime Video, and viewers showed up fast. The Wrecking Crew has been out for a minute and it is already punching its way to the top spot around the world.

How big, how fast?

The Wrecking Crew hit Prime Video on January 28, 2026. Within days, it climbed to No. 1 on the service’s global movie chart, according to the tracking site FlixPatrol. It is currently leading in a bunch of major markets, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Poland. Translation: it found its audience immediately and then some.

So what is this thing?

It is directed by Ángel Manuel Soto and plays like an action movie with a buddy-comedy undercurrent. The setup is simple and clean: Jonny and James are estranged half brothers who get dragged back into each other’s orbit after their father dies under suspicious circumstances. Their search for answers stirs up old grudges and, unsurprisingly, points to a bigger conspiracy. It is set in Hawaii, so expect sun, steel, and a lot of large-scale mayhem, but the hook is the prickly, funny, sometimes tender push-pull between the two leads.

Who is in it?

  • Jason Momoa as Jonny Hale
  • Dave Bautista as James Hale
  • Claes Bang as Marcus Robichaux
  • Temuera Morrison as Governor Peter Mahoe
  • Jacob Batalon as Pika
  • Frankie Adams as Haunani "Nani" Palakiko

Early reception

Critically, it is doing pretty well: 75% on Rotten Tomatoes from 56 reviews at the moment. Audience score is a bit lower at 68%, which tracks for an easy-sell action-comedy that is more about star chemistry and stunts than reinventing the genre.

"A fun popcorn flick"

That is the quick-and-dirty verdict from CBR, which also singles out the Momoa/Bautista duo as the main reason to hit play. The consensus so far: the plot won’t blow your mind, but it delivers the buddy energy and adrenaline it promises.

Given how fast it shot up international charts, The Wrecking Crew is already one of Prime Video’s most-watched new releases of the year. If you want big personalities, bigger set pieces, and the kind of movie that pairs well with a couch and snacks, this is that.
