Jason Momoa Revs Up for Sons of Anarchy Creator’s New High-Octane Biker Series
Jason Momoa is revving up to headline Nomad, a new Apple TV+ biker saga from Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter — marking his latest ride with the streamer after See and Chief of War.
Jason Momoa is hopping back on a bike. Apple is putting together a new outlaw-biker drama called 'Nomad' from 'Sons of Anarchy' creator Kurt Sutter, and Momoa is leading the charge. He knows his way around Apple shows by now too, after headlining 'See' and more recently 'Chief of War'.
So what is 'Nomad'?
Sutter is returning to the biker world, but not the one you expect. This time the backdrop is New Zealand, which is a fresh spin for a genre that usually lives and dies on American highways.
'In the violent underworld of New Zealand's outlaw bikers, a warrior torn between two lives, two callings, and two families must decide which path defines his true destiny.'
That description reads like classic Sutter: grief, loyalty, blood feuds, and lots of engines. And with Momoa at the center, expect something big and bruising.
Who is making it
'Nomad' is co-created by Sutter and showrunner Chris Collins, an alum of 'The Wire'. They are writing the pilot together. Sutter is executive producing via his SutterInk banner, and Collins is executive producing through Generator Entertainment. Momoa is not just starring; he is also an executive producer with Brian Mendoza for their company On the Roam.
Momoa's schedule is not exactly open
On top of 'Chief of War', Momoa has been busy on screens big and small, and that is not slowing down:
- He co-starred with Jack Black in 'A Minecraft Movie'. After a strong box office run, a sequel is in development and aiming for a 2027 theatrical release.
- He appears in 'In the Hand of Dante', which premiered at the 2025 Venice International Film Festival.
- He is attached to the road comedy 'Animal Friends' with Ryan Reynolds.
- He will show up in the DC Universe's 'Supergirl' as the iconic anti-hero Lobo.
- He is set for 'Dune: Part Three', reprising Duncan Idaho from the first film.
- He is also lined up for the live-action 'Street Fighter' movie.
Short version: if you like watching Momoa smash his way through genre projects, 'Nomad' fits right into the rotation. And Sutter doing bikers in New Zealand is a curveball I did not see coming, which makes me more curious than usual.
