The Wrecking Crew 2 is revving up, with director Ángel Manuel Soto revealing Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista are ready to return for the Prime Video sequel.

The Wrecking Crew might be gearing up for round two, and the people who swung the hammers the first time seem eager to pick them back up.

So, where is The Wrecking Crew 2 right now?

Director Ángel Manuel Soto says he sees more story to tell and that the two leads, Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista, want back in. He even admits the first movie planted seeds on purpose.

"We left a lot of open-ended moments on purpose so we can solve them with a sequel. Everyone wants to make it happen."

Screenwriter Jonathan Tropper has been workshopping where to take it next, and his pitch is basically bigger, tougher, messier for the brothers.

"We have a pretty strong idea. These brothers are now united in a way they weren't before, and so I think if we did another one, it would be basically to up the ante, up the stakes, and put them in a much more difficult situation than they were in the first one."

A quick refresher on The Wrecking Crew

Momoa and Bautista star as estranged half-brothers Jonny and James, pulled back together by their dad's suspicious death. Their search for answers drags up family secrets and tests loyalties, while an ugly conspiracy starts to show its face. The tone stays punchy: two bruisers bulldozing obstacles while trying to keep their family from imploding.

  • Cast: Claes Bang (Marcus Robichaux), Temuera Morrison (Governor Peter Mahoe), Jacob Batalon (Pika), Frankie Adams (Haunani "Nani" Palakiko), Miyavi (Nakamura), Stephen Root (Detective Sergeant Karl Rennert), Morena Baccarin (Valentina)

How the first one is doing

The Hawaii-set action comedy marked Soto's first feature since 2023's Blue Beetle. It hit Prime Video on January 28 and is currently the service's No. 1 movie in the U.S. It also sits at 77% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is a healthy place to be if you are trying to keep the party going.

The sequel is in the hopeful stage, but with the director, the stars, and the writer all pushing for it, the momentum looks real. If it moves forward, expect Jonny and James to face a tougher, higher-stakes mess now that they are finally on the same side.
