Fans blame Nathan for Jack's death.

Summary

  • The fandom was heartbroken when Jack died in Season 5, but their grief quickly turned to anger when Nathan's dubious past was revealed.
  • Fans have developed a strong aversion to Nathan, accusing him of being a stalker and suggesting he moved to Hope Valley to be near Elizabeth, Jack's widow, in an implausible attempt to protect her.

When Hallmark's When Calls the Heart premiered in 2014, everyone believed that the period romance would be a hit and remain on the air for years to come, given the show's original premise and excellent cast. However, a decade is a long time, and the melodrama's current struggles with contrived storylines and unusual creative choices perfectly illustrate that the show's canon has grown somewhat too large for its own good.

In the Season 10 finale, Elizabeth officially ended things with Lucas, leading fans to speculate that she would be dating Mountie Nathan in the upcoming season, which greatly upset many of them, all due to one persistent theory.

Shady Past

Despite the numerous developments on the show in recent years, fans still remember Elizabeth and her first love interest, Jack. The pair appeared perfect together and was the primary reason the show gained such popularity after the first two seasons.

Jack was a Mountie, and his death during a training mission after Season 5 left the fandom deeply heartbroken. However, when Nathan entered the scene, the heartbreak swiftly turned to anger as Nathan's shady past was unveiled to the viewers.

The truth is Nathan was the one initially chosen for the mission, but after an accident, Jack was sent on it instead, leading to his untimely death. While Nathan is not directly responsible for Jack's death, this hasn't prevented fans from despising him and accusing him of some rather bizarre things.

Is Nathan a Stalker?

Fans are firmly convinced that Nathan moved to Hope Valley to be near Elizabeth, Jack's widow. Nathan supposedly felt guilty about Jack's death and wanted to protect his widow at all costs, which seemed rather implausible given that he began courting her the moment he arrived.

That is why people detest the idea of Nathan and Elizabeth as a couple, as the concept of a soldier marrying another soldier's widowed wife seems too unusual and distasteful to get behind.
