They are young and they are afraid.

In this list you will find films that reflect the spirit of the modern teens: technology becomes a trap, personal boundaries are blurred, and reality turns out to be scarier than fantasy.

1. Totally Killer, 2023

The movie is set in a small town where a terrible murder of three schoolgirls took place 35 years ago. The main character, Jamie, activates a device that allows her to travel in time and ends up in 1987 – the same time an unknown person attacked a group of schoolchildren, including her mother.

Jamie decides to try to prevent the girls' deaths and uncover the identity of the madman. If you are familiar with I Know What You Did Last Summer, then the adventures of the characters will probably seem vaguely familiar.

2. It's What's Inside, 2024

A group of young people gather at a country house for a pre-wedding party. Suddenly, an old friend arrives with a suspicious invention – a machine that allows people to switch bodies.

A sudden guessing game forces the characters to reveal their hidden sides and test the limits of friendship, love and trust.

3. Talk to Me, 2023

The main character, Mia, is having a hard time coping with the death of her mother. One day, at a meeting with her peers, she decides to play a mystical game with a witch's hand that can summon the dead.

The teenagers use the artifact to summon spirits into their bodies for evening entertainment, not realizing that breaking the rules can lead to terrible consequences.

The film, directed by Danny and Michael Philippou, was immediately compared by critics to A24's mainstream hits after its premiere, which drew widespread attention. Talk to Me combines specific horror film techniques with a dramatic foundation that explores topics of loss and addiction.

4. Bodies Bodies Bodies, 2022

The movie takes place in a country house during a hurricane. A group of young people decide to play Bodies, Bodies, Bodies – a kind of game to find the "killer." But the sudden death of one of the participants turns the fun into a real nightmare, as the friends are now forced to search for the real criminal.

As events unfold, their paranoia and random accusations begin to border on the absurd. This project from A24 flirts with the classic slasher canon while adding an ironic take on modern teen culture.

5. Freaky, 2020

Millie, a quiet high school student, falls victim to the Blissfield Butcher, who the day before brutally murdered a group of teenagers in a wealthy mansion where he had stashed an ancient ritual knife.

It is this new weapon that causes the breakdown: after being stabbed, Millie discovers that she is not dead, but has swapped bodies with the killer. While the madman walks around in the body of a schoolgirl, attracting attention, Millie must not only learn to hide, but also find a way to get her body back.
